Its been going on for years, yet you still sound surprised. You know as well as I do that Paul needs to be the head honcho. With that ego, how could he not?

I didn't realize Paul's was recorded overnight and rushed out once he heard Ringo was putting an album out?

Can't it be a coincidence?

would the many efforts that we've had since the breakup have happened without Paul's ego pushing the others along?

Anthology?
itunes?
Cirq?
rereleased masters

I don't think we'd have heard BEATLES too much in the last 40+ if it had been left up to the others.

I for one am glad he has the ego and desire to be in front.

I remember hearing that when George hit # 1 in 1988 with Got My Mind Set On You , Paul was not happy.
When George's last album Brainwashed was released, Paul's live album Back In The USA was released just a week later overshadowing George's album.
Nice thing to do to your dead friend Paul! I wasn't surprised that Capitol Records would release the albums so close together since I know that "Crapitol" only cares about the money they can make off of "The Fab Four".

But wait!  This isn't like the Paul we knew way back in the early 60s.  Maybe these are more clues.  Maybe it's really true!    ;)

Of course Paul's an a**hole. You have to be an a**hole to make it big.

It's amazing isn't it that people who are so lucky can allow something as trivial as that bother them. I heard he was also 'livid' when Pipes of peace didn't get to #1. The guy needs to realise some humility and gratitude.

He may be an ass, but he makes fine music. That's all I care about.

And if Paul puts out new music when Ringo releases new music, that's double the music for my ears! :)

Paul is such an a**hole in so many ways, especially in terms of being pompous and full of himself. Then again, he was an amazing father, and I do like to remind myself of that whenever I get annoyed/p*ssed off at something he's done.

Based on the last week's events that Paul has been involved in it is obvious that the album timing was perfectly lined up to be prior to this week and culminating with the different awards and shows.  Maybe an a$$ as the post title suggests but not dumb when it comes to making news and marketing.

Paul has involved Ringo on numerous albums and projects over the years.  They collaborate on each others' cd's, including Ringo's most recent.  I doubt that Ringo shares that opinion of Paul.

I think a** hole is a bit much to describe Paul. Show-boater sounds a bit better to my liking.
Paul has been the same even with the Beatles - He's a show-boater - wants the last word - wants his legend intact. I think he doesn't like the fact that Lennon is the Legend and not him. Witness the Lennon-McCartney / McCartney-Lennon controversy. Even at the Concert for George - he had to have the last word!
Don't get me wrong, I think as a musician, Paul was the best of the Beatles. His melodies are always spot on;
He is who he is.
Without him, there would have been practically nothing from the Beatles after 1967.
Great music, great songs, that's all that matters really.
p.s. Maybe he releases albums at the same time as Ringo, to help Ringo. A Beatles fan will buy it a McCartney album & if there's a Ringo one there, why not, pick it up too.

I think Paul is a workaholic.  He also is a bit of a control freak.  He still, now, goes to work at 6 a.m.  He is like a drill sergeant who has a list of things to do, and does them at his pace, then just moves on without regard to the pace of others.  It's been his pattern throughout his career.  Who else would get to a recording session an hour early and record an entire demo, by himself playing multiple instruments, that later turns into a hit record (and actually made their career) for Badfinger?  The other Beatles wanted to relax - he didn't.  Perhaps you all just misjudge him a bit, he isn't malicious, he is just driven, and has the perception that the others are not at his speed and are just holding him back from his own destiny.  His output dwarfs that of the other Beatles put together.

There's an interesting interview of his on a 1979 documentary, when he goes off on how, despite unemployment, anyone can succeed just like he does if they would only work hard enough.  Quite an attitude, I think.  He finished with Wings - and ended it with a press release.  The end of the Beatles sounds awfully similar.

Just something to consider.
