Is Paul a has been?
« on: February 24, 2016, 12:37:16 AM »

He hasn't had a hit in years and he was turned away from a party recently.

I don't know - is this the end of the Famous Beatle's legendary career?

If rock royalty had a dinner party, Paul would be sitting at the head of the table.

Take that for what its worth.

I wouldn't consider that particular party to be much of a barometer for Paul's career!

For a true has-been, being turned away from that party wouldn't have been news.

I think you're right, Moogmodule.  The party thing wouldn't have made news if he were a true has-been.

Anyway, other signs of a possible true has-been-ism could be alcoholism, overly long hair, unshaven floor length beard, disheveled looking, raggedy clothing, shoes with holes in them (barefoot), obsessive-compulsive rituals, talking to self out loud and cussing, rotund girlfriend with missing front teeth, hanging around with Pete Best or appearing on his albums, etc.    Yeah, I don't think Paul has any of those symptoms so far.  Yes, I studied psych in college so I know whereof I speak!!

Yep, he's good.  He's an is not a was, I humbly concede.  Thank you, Moog!

I like that quote.  Go one step further, the dinner party is like a lot many of our childhood Thanksgivings etc. and Paul and Ringo are at the big table and everybody else is at "kids'" tables.  In the same room but in little chairs and saying no to Paul's veggies.

I don't think he's a has been YET, but sometimes I do cringe when I see him!  When he did "Maybe I'm Amazed" on Saturday Night Live 40th Anny, he sounded horrible and couldn't reach the high notes.

I think Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Pete Townshend, Ray Davies and Brian Wilson, for instance, would be in that "adults" table too.

You can hide it under the tablecloth, along with the onions.

Not bothering the charts is not an indication of being a has-been, IMHO.

Not producing new interesting music is indication of being a has-been.

"Appreciate" shows that McCartney can still do something new. Not a has-been.
