Title: Anyone been following the Natalee Holloway case?
Post by: Joost on February 04, 2008, 08:35:02 AM
The story:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natalee_Holloway

Yesterday there was a special on Dutch TV with secretly taped confessions that the main suspect Joran van der Sloot made to a 'friend', who in fact worked for a crime reporter.

Joran claimed that he was on the beach with Natalee and that she just passed out and probably died (he didn't even bother checking if she was really dead). He then called a friend who had a boat and had him dumping the body in the ocean.

Now this seems like a very unbelievable story to me. Imagine this: you're on the beach with a girl. All of a sudden, she passes out and you think she's dead. What's the first thing on your mind? I think you'd want to call the cops and an ambulance, right? Cause after all, she just passed out and you're an innocent bystander. But this guy claims on a secretly taped confession that the first thing that came to his mind was: "Get rid of the body!". Why would you want to get rid of a body when nothing illegal happened to that point? He knew several people saw him leave with Natalee and that two friends dropped them off at the beach, so he knew he would automatically get linked to her dissapearance. And if no body would show up or, even worse, it would be found in the water, everyone would think it was murder. So unless he had a hand in her death, I'm not buying this story at all.

And what's even more unbelievable: Joran now claims that his confession (in fact, he made no less than TEN confessions to his 'friend') was a lie. He apparently just told his 'friend' what he wanted to hear and he really had nothing to do with Natalee's death...

And what's even worse: he told his 'friend' that he never lost a night's sleep over this whole thing, that Natalee was just a slut and that he loved how this case was going to make him rich...

Like the JonBenet Ramsey case I don't think this will ever be solved sadly. I do know however that Natalee Holloway's mom is dating JonBenet Ramsey's dad. Kind of interesting.

Case dominating UK tabloids is the murder of 18 yearold model Sally-Anne, stabbed in the street outside her home. There are two suspects:
1) The known-to-be-possessive boyfriend who was seen arguing with her in the car for ninety minutes just before she died. He claims she was alive when he drove off.
2) The homeless chef whose semen was found on the body. He claims he came across her corpse (as it were) and seized his oppotunity.

Aren't there some lovely people around! Even if the chef is innocent, who on earth is going to employ him now? And 90 minutes is an awfully long aurgument in a confined space! I reckon 5 would be about the limit before someone got out of the car.

Poor chap. I'd like to think that for a sane person their first response on finding a corpse in the street wouldn't be "ooh - I'll have some of that." Sure as hell wouldn't want him roasting my venison.
