I'll Cry Instead Recording
« on: February 17, 2014, 12:41:55 AM »

If we want to look for the separate recordings of "I'll Cry Instead" where they were edited together, we should find them on here.

https://www.mediafire.com/?8x79t969w2w6ceh

Edit #1:00:00 to 01:09 where it ends with "I'll cry"

Edit #2 01:10 to 01:12 where it starts with "Instead" and ends with "I've got"

Edit #3 01:13 to 01:33 where it starts with "Every reason on earth to be mad"

Edit #4 01:34 to 02:05

Thank you for posting this, Daniel.  Is this the version?

This is something interesting from the Beatles Anomalies List:

1:10
Edit, and the rhythm guitar drops out in mid strum. This is between "cry" and "instead". It is suggested by Stephen Moss that his dual-voiced part on "cry" is not tight at all, especially compared to previous examples in the track. It almost sounds like he's about to run into difficulty singing at all. (Reference the "I'm crying" bridge in the Anthology version of I Am The Walrus... Does he just have issues with the word 'cry'?) At the cut, on "instead" suddenly the vocal snaps back into line.

1:12-1:21
George is having problems with the lead guitar. Note how low he is mixed, compared with the first bridge at 0:45. Critical listening shows that he's fumbling some of the runs, and is only mixed back in clearly when the playing improves.

My favorite part of this song is Georges guitar just flows along in the back round holding the song together! Awesome!

Those time notes from the Anomalies List coincide with Daniel's edit isolations.

That reminds me. Mark Lewishon from The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions said that only one mono mix exists. That's why it only lasts 2 minutes and 5 seconds while the stereo mix lasts 1 minute and 45 seconds. Some of us Beatles fans thought the stereo mix was folded into mono for the UK mono release.

I just love that book.

I read that and "Beatles Gear" together when reading about a certain song.  It enlightens me about the times and what instruments were being used on it.  glassesslip
