Let'shear more of it: "Day 1 - Run For Your Life"
« on: January 28, 2005, 03:46:46 AM »

I'm picking sonsgs that I feel are underratted, overlooked, unappreciated, or any combination of the three.  I plan to make it a regular. everyday feature (when I have time, anyhoo, but I'm not pressed for it).

So here we go!

Day 1: Run For Your Life

John nicked the first two lines from the Elvis Presley hit 'Baby Let's Play House' -- the bit where he goes "I'd rather see you dead little girl than to be with another man." But Elvis' early Sun sessions were little known at the same, and his lift went unnoticed.

It is a very catchy tune, and a great closer at that.  John sports some pretty angry vocals.  It's the Darth Vader of "You Can't Do That," sporting the same "This is really fun to sing!" feel.

Tell us your thoughts and opinions!

Don't like the line "I'd rather see you dead little girl than to be with another man"
Still, it's one in the face for Stones freaks who say the Beatles only wrote cutsey love songs

Mmm. John's voice is really spiffy on the "You know that i'm a wicked guy and I was born with a jealous mind..." bit. <33333

Its a pleasent song, but its one of the bottom feeders on 'Rubber Soul' along with 'What Goes On', 'Wait', and 'Think For Yourself' (if there is such a thing as bottom feeders with the Beatles).
