I think A HArd Days Night is THE epitomy of contemporary pop music even though it was recorded over 30 years ago. I think it embodies the Beatles at the height of thier fab four period before they moved on to more explorative styles. Dam those boys knew how to write a catchy 2min 30 sec pop tune that you can hum for ever - this album is so.... umm... alive??
Anywayz, a word on a couple of the tracks - When I Get Home is seriously underrated, a right screamer with great harmonies and an unorthodox chord change for the Whoa Whoa AHHHHHHHHH bit (A major in the key of C anyone?)
I also think I'll Cry Instead also is one o the first songs apart from I Call Your Name where John showed a little bit of himself he would fully explore in the folowing years. Introspective lyrics ('I got a chip on my shoulder...I cant talk to people that I meet... etc...)
Things we said to day is very sophisticated with some nice changes for the middle in there, as is And I Love Her with its different almost moody instrumentation and the key change for the guitar solo.
Great album!
