If only the album itself was worth remembering. ;)
-
Revolver - definately Revolver :)
-
Abbey Road....with the Hey Jude compilation album cover a close second.
-
Rubber Soul and Abbey Road.
I love the way they look on Rubber Soul. It's very cool.
So why didn't anybody pick the White Album?

I would love to have one of the originals with a low number on it. I wonder if that's worth anything. The poster inside of it is interesting! Naked Paul!? What were they thinking!
-

Ha!!! That's funny. Yeah, he's not very manly in it is he. As much as I dig the guy, there are just some things best left unseen!!
:B
-
It isn't Paul - what a pitty! ;)
My favourit cover is abbey road - it's just like you have to always say "wow!" when you look at it. rubber soul is great, too.
bw
Pepper :)

I actually dig the Beatles For Sale album cover. Great photography
-
What about Beatles For Sale?
-
Abbey Road cant be beat
-
are you joking..its REVOLVER all the way i have a full length framed poster of this album cover in my front room. Its a pice of art and the music is not bad too!
-
well, it depends... If we talk about an elaborate album cover, my favourite is Revolver. Sgt Pepper's is good too, very good, I must add. If we are talking about covers with their pictures on them I think For Sale is really good!
-
i would have to say a hard days night
-
Call me crazy, but white album. Simple and gets the job done.
-
Abbey Road is my favorite cover/album
-
Abbey Road gives me the best feeling when I look at it.
-
Abbey Road then Sgt peppers then revolver
-
I love the original White Album vinyl...
With the embossed? print :)
I didnt notice it said "TheBEATLES" the first time I saw it - I thought it was all white :D
-
Rubber SOul has a nice cover too, with the distorted photo
-
So why didn't anybody pick the White Album?
-
A Hard Day's Night, Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt. Pepper, Magical Mystery Tour, Abbey Rd, Let It Be.
Not in Order, just particularly like them.
-
Sgt. Pepper
-
Revolver and Yellow submarine
-
The Anthology-albums.
-
Revolver/ White Album

so who is the old guy????????
i like their satanic majestys request and goat heads soup too......
it seems the stones copied a few beatles covers.why not then did the beatles do a version of soup with a stone head?
-
revolver
-
The Hey Jude cover is great. Makes me wish it was used for a real album.
-
Rubber Soul and Pepper
-
1. Sgt Pepper (easy its not just an album cover its a work of art)
2. Revolver
3. With the beatles
4. Abbey rd
5. Let it be (love that beard man)
White album cover is ok, but its just white!
;)

They released two EPs with extracts from the Beatles for Sale album called Beatles for Sale and Beatles for Sale No. 2. The Beatles for Sale cover is just like the LP cover, but the No. 2 one is a really good pic - apart from the separate photos in the White Album, that photo is the best pic of the Beatles together.
(http://www.thebeatlesongs.com/images/ep_sale.jpg) (http://www.thebeatlesongs.com/images/ep_sale2.jpg)
I reckon they should have released two pressings of the LP, each with one of the Beatles for Sale pictures.
-
I love the Beatle for Sale Cover, one of my favourites.
'Robert Freeman's autumnal, soft-focus, shots, showing the quartet not as grinning provincial moptops, but as rich, confident stylish young men'
Such a great Album, sound-wise..very underated.
-
I like all the albums' covers. They're all nice pics on the covers (except the white album hasn't got a pic). I can't pick one, it's just too difficult: I love them all!
-
Hard Days Night
-
My favourite album cover is "Rubber Soul". The story behind how that cover came about is great.
I also saw the coat that John is wearing on the cover a few months ago. I always liked the Abbey Road cover, but after seeing that coat, knowing all that seperated it from my fingers was a small peice of glass, I was hooked on that cover.
The coat is at The Hard Rock Cafe in Surfer's Paradise if anybody is interested...

-
Rubber Soul beacuse their hair looked "COOL" and the colours used on the lp spoke to its contents.
-
I liked the early, alternate version of the White Album cover -- it was still the white background, lots of curly crimson lettering and stuff like that.
Sgt. Pepper's, Abbey Road, Rubber Soul, Revolver...all of them are really pretty. I'd have to say Sgt. Pepper's is my favourite -- kinda surreal and you can just spend lots of time scanning through all the people. Abbey Road is probably my second favourite...lol, makes for a good t-shirt. ^^;;
-
abbey road ;D
-

Couldn't agree more.
-
Revolver and Sgt. Pepper's have the best art, but Rubber Soul has the best photography.
-
Isn't it awesome how they could make the album covers suit the type of songs on the albums?
-
They were just really photogenic people.. meaning..very cool 8)
-
Especially Paul... you'd be hard up to find a bad picture of him. I think I've only ever seen 3 bad pictures of him, and in 2 he was intentionally pulling a bad face for the camera.
-
Yep, Mccartney looks cool on every photo.
He..is a legend :)
-
Abbey Road
Beatles For Sale
Rubber Soul
Sgt.Pepper
Revolver
A Hard Days Night
-
Abbey Road, I have the shirt with the cover on it. It's a great album too, first Beatles album I got I believe, or AHDN but that cover isn't so great, I like the poster for AHDN though, with Paul's Grandfather.
"That's not your grandfather I've seen your grandfather he lives in your house." --Georgie (probably my favorite quote! lol)
-
I also like the Wit the Beatles cover
MMT is probably my least favorit, it's my favorite album though.
-
For me, it's probably the Abbey Road cover, although the Sgt. Pepper cover is a strong contender.
-
Abbey Road. It's a great photo, and thoroughly iconic.
-
Revolver!!
Thanks Klaus Voormann
-
Peppers
White Album
Revolver
-
Abbey Road, followed by the Please Please Me/Beatles 62-66 67-70 covers. MMT I like as well.
-
Revolver!!
Thanks Klaus Voormann
Indeed. 8)

One thing about the Pepper cover - has anyone noticed that after all Mr Blake's efforts at making life size cut outs, dragging in the wax dummies and photographing it as a tablaeu (sp) it still looks remarkably flat? He could have achieved the same result with a bit of sixties cut and pasting.
-

I think it would have been difficult to achieve any sense of depth in that shot. Cardboard cutouts would leave quite sharp shadows if lit to attempt depth. If only they'd had Photoshop in 1967!

It's a shame, because that is exactly what he was trying to do. All that effort seemsd a bit pointless otherwise.

Yes, the idea completely fails for me. Terry Gilliam would have done a better job.
-
I like Sgt Pepper's, because I love that every time I look at it I see someone new. Same thing for Revolver. I should probably put Revolver first because I haven't examined it as closely as Pepper's, so there are still some surprises on there for me, but I love the colors of Peppers, and I am all about colors!!
-
i really like revolver. it just so kewl!!! :)
-
Rubber Soul
-
I love the story about how they got Rubber soul to have that distorted look. It makes me smile.
-
how?
-
The guy that took their pictures had a piece of cardboard cut out to the size of an album and was showing them the possible pictures of them for the cover with a slide viewer, and they picked that picture and one of the legs of the viewer fell off the table it was on and the picture got distorted (the way it looks on the album). and according to Paul, they all freaked out and got excited and asked "Can we have that?!?" and he made it happen for them.
-
wow AWESOME only that could happen to them to make it cooler!
-
I think it was on the anthology Dvd's... pretty sure that's where I heard it, cause I remember paul telling the story and mocking the faces they made, jaws on the floor, and excited "CAN WE HAVE THAT?!?!"
-
haha ;D

My Fave is With the Beatles. I love that black and White with the shadows. Its such an awesome look. I've always loved that cover then best. My 2nd favorite is Beatles for Sale. I've heard the cover is supposed to represent the 4 seasons but the only season I can see is Autumn...forturnatly thats also my favorite season.
-
If I say the White Album, will people attack me?
Anyways, I actually like the Help! cover. I like George's top hat.
-
Well... almost every Beatles album cover is iconic (this band really excelled in everything)... Furthermore the colours on the album often reflect the music contained in it (pure genius). This choice is just impossinle. ;)
-
my fav covers by them are probley on With the Beatles (roll over beethoven, please mr postman,
devil in her heart) . strangest thing is they didn't just do the song like the original, they sort
of changed it in their 'beatle-way' ;D and made sound slightly different.
-
As cliche as it may be, Abbey Road. The most recognizable album cover of all time.
-

I love Beatles for Sale too. On the back of the American album there's a picture with them looking up, shot in the autumn, with leaves all around them. Just SO COOL!!!!!
"Oohh....."Can we have that?!?"
-
I dig the Hey Jude cover...
The boys looked like they just crawled out of bed (with the exception of Ringo), and slid into the first available attire and snapped some pictures ;D
I also dig the lid that John is sporting, and the lid that's on the statue, (been trying to figure out the significance of that since 1972).
-
Abbey Road.
the most well-known Beatles cover.
-
my least favorite is with the beatles. it's so depressing.
-
My 2nd favorite is Beatles for Sale. I've heard the cover is supposed to represent the 4 seasons but the only season I can see is Autumn...forturnatly thats also my favorite season.
Beatles '65 is supposed to represent all four seasons... Seeing the Beatles hold springs for springtime (get it?) totally cracks me up. http://z.about.com/d/classicrock/1/0/y/I/beatles_65.jpg
I think my favorite album cover is Sgt. Pepper, but I also really like Abbey Road, A Hard Day's Night, and With the Beatles.
-

I have to say that that I think the iconism (?) in some cases is more to do with the fact that they're Beatle albums, not because of the quality of the cover. A shot of them crossing a road isn't particularly clever or inspired - it wouldn't be iconic if someone else did it. Likewise Please Please Me, Help! and Let It Be. Nothing particularly artful or original about them - just iconic for what they represent (as opposed to being a result of their all encompassing genius). Phew.
Sorry, but I can't see that colour thing either.
-
Revolver all the way for me.
-
Magical Mystery Tour.. I love the weirdness of it!
But I also love A Hard Day's Night:
-
i seriously love them all. my favourites though, would have to be: With the Beatles, Help, Abbey Road and Magical Mystery Tour
-
i always loved the simplicity of this one...(http://www.amiright.com/album-covers/images/album_The-Beatles-with-Tony-Sheridan-This-is-the-The-Savage-Young-Beatles_thumb.jpg)
then there is this one....(http://bp1.blogger.com/_IZqOcOiAPaQ/SGmeWWIR36I/AAAAAAAABu4/yOpfFAY9e40/s320/itbpoly-main.jpg)
-
I really like the Help! cover and the Revolver cover.
-
Abbey Road & "AHDN"
-
Abbey Road has such a casual appearance I like it the best.
http://social.yesterday.uk.com
-
the white album cover blows my mind! :P :P ;D
-
Either Beatles For Sale or Rubber Soul. They all looks so perfect on both of those covers. Beatles for Sale they look younger and Rubber Soul they look more grown up.
-
MOST ICONIC BEATLES ALBUM:

SIMPLEST AND CLEVEREST BEATLES ALBUM:
ironicly both albums are my favourites, REALLY.
too simple...
oh yeah then... if we are talking about non-official album, then I really dig this:
reminds to me of Deep Purple's In Rock album:

-
Definitely REVOLVER. It's just SO cool, and so classic. And Klaus Voorman captured their likenesses PERFECTLY, in quick simple sketches! Beautiful, and probably one of the first pieces of "psychadelic" art.
-
Definitely REVOLVER....and probably one of the first pieces of "psychadelic" art.
Sorry, but it's not. It followed a trend, not created it. Pyschedelic album art had been around in jazz for years. Zappa's Freakout (June 66) predates Revolver, as does the quite similar Roger The Engineer (July 66)by The Yardbirds.
Likewise the distorted cover of Rubber Soul is similar to contempory albums by the Dylan and The Byrds. As much as we wish, they didn't event the wheel. :)

Hard for me to say. But the most "iconic" cover that will be remembered by everyone has got to be Abbey Road. How many times has that famous "walk" been copied is shows...........remember "The Simpson's"?????

-
Ever noticed that even though they were known as 'John, Paul, George, and Ringo', they never posed for an album cover in that order!
-
Abbey ROAD
-
With The Beatles, just so stylish
-
Abbey Road
So instantly recognizable, and I love how it doesn't have the name "The Beatles" printed on the front cover. It's so clean... I guess it was unnecessary to put their name on there coz everybody knew it was them.
-
I think The White Album is absolutely amazing. Have you ever traced your fingers along the letters that say 'The BEATLES'? It's so entrancing, and yet so simple.
-
I would say Beatles For Sale is my favourite album cover, closely followed by With The Beatles.
I also love the photo on the inside of Love Songs.
(Please Please Me is probably my least favourite cover of the original releases, though Beatles Ballads is my all-time least favourite.)
-
i love sgt. peppers lonely hearts club band
and revolver
but my favorite is magical mystery tour, blue jay way is really unique
i don't like abbey road that much, but i love the songs written by george and paul
-
A Hard Day's Night - A great depiction of the pace and energy of the Beatles during the "fab" years.
Beatles For Sale, for its' beautiful colours and the first cover showing that the Beatles weren't smiling buffoons making funnies at every turn.
With The Beatles is cool and a great image, too.
Help, nice minimal design.
Please Please Me - a bursting image that introduced the band to many people in the UK.
Rubber Soul, cool as...no need to name the Band on the cover.
Revolver - ingenious design and great compression of swinging London and the Beatles' looking in different directions.
I could go on....I don't feel so much for Pepper as I used to, maybe there's too much going on, but the music is divine so all is forgiven.
The Beatles. Simple, clean white cover with just the band name in small lettering. Genius.
Abbey Road - iconic and clever
Let It Be - a sombre, detached symbol of the Beatles' divisions.
If pushed, it's got to be Beatles For Sale...
-
I think every cover is awesome, but I guess my top five would be...
1. Sgt. Pepper
2. Revolver
3. Abbey Road
4. Rubber Soul
5. With the Beatles
-
Hands down Abbey Road for me. It jus kinda captures them as "normal" ppl.
-
I really like Rubber Soul.
But I also like A Hard Days Night cover. I love looking at all of their expressions.
Beatles for Sale is nice too!
It's really hard to pick one.
-
I would say Beatles For Sale is my favourite album cover, closely followed by With The Beatles.
Agree. These two are my favorites in that same order.
-
revolver is the coolest for me 8)
-
1) Revolver
2) Sgt. Peppers
3) Rubber Soul
4) White Album
-
(http://991.com/newGallery/The-Beatles-A-Collection-Of-B-221107.jpg)
-
All are great covers for me.
Stand out ones, however, could be The White Album, Rubber Soul, A Hard Day's Night.
-
My favourite one is definitely "Beatles for Sale". Simply beautiful!
And of course AHDN and "With the Beatles" are great too!
-
Mine Are
Yesterday and Today (Butcher Cover)
Hey Jude
The Beatles Second Album
The Early Beatles
-
Beatles For Sale
-
I think mine would have to be "A Hard Day's Night." I even have a shirt with a design like the cover on it. And second favorite... probably Let It Be (it's so simple, but yet it stands out to me) or Revolver (basically, it's amazing).
-
1)Revolver
2)Abbey Road
3)Sgt. Peppers
4)Let It Be
-
Rubber Soul for me.
-
Rubber Soul, probably because that's the last album I bought. My brother always beat me to the store and grabbed the first releases before I could. Didn't stand a chance with my older brother.
oh well, listened to Beatles without paying for it.
cp
-
So many great album covers, but I think Rubber Soul stands out for me. I like Beatles For Sale too, but I think the back cover is even better than the front.
I think Sgt Pepper just takes the prize ahead of Abbey Road as most iconic... just because it was less copied than Abbey Road (which is so simple and therefore easy to parody) doesn't make it less iconic. Pepper was so perfect for its time, and bursting with elaborate detail and colour.
Sorry about this next bit but...
Revolver has to be by far the worst Beatles album cover for me. I know many people find it very arty and cool, but I actually find it quite drab and almost depressing. Different, yes... but flat, amateurishly doodled (IMO) and scrappily pasted together with no colour anywhere (b&w worked brilliantly on With The Beatles... but this was meant to be psychedelic '66 for goodness' sake!). For me it's the only (relative) duffer in an otherwise enchanting string of sleeves.
-
Beatles For Sale.
-
Help!, Sgt. Pepper's, Revolver and Magical Mystery Tour. :)
-
1. With the Beatles
2. The Yesterday and Today butcher cover ;D
3. Abbey Road
-
Abbey road.
-
I don't know, every Beatles cover is so iconic. But if I had to choose I'd pick Sgt. Pepper.
-
For me, it's Revolver!
It has the most musical styles and IMO the best use of instruments. Lots of guitars! I think every song stands on it's own.
-

best cover dcazz , not album :)
-
best cover dcazz , not album :)
Sorry about that! I like the cover but I think Sgt. Pepper gets it for a cover. Great (expensive) front colorful foldout and the lyrics on the back. 67 all the way!
-
I like them all except Help, dont have a favourite
-
My favourite album-cover is "Please please me".
Snoopy
-
A cover I really like but almost forgot is the With the Beatles/ Meet the Beatles black and white cover photo. Very artsy and moody. Not bad for 1963.
-
My favorites were the American releasd capitol lable lps...The Beatles 2nd album(1964) and the Beatles IV(1965) they were just too Kool. And in the interest of not appearing tasteless....I like the buther cover for the Yesterday.....and Today lp. As for the best post break up...well hands down the silver reflecive Rock and Roll music double lp set(1976) not only great music but the classic classic americana ,drive in graphics.....quite simply on of the best designs covers ever.
-
I really like Rubber Soul and abbey road !
-
'Abbey Road', yet it strikes me as funny that it became such an iconic cover. I wonder if would've been the same if the album was one of their worst.
-

Interesting point ... and I wonder if it helps to make the album 'great' ?
-

I don't think any album cover has that power. After all, it's just a picture.
-
My favorites were the American releasd capitol lable lps...The Beatles 2nd album(1964) and the Beatles IV(1965) they were just too Kool.
I agree! I spent a lot of time studying those when I was a little kid. It's hard to choose from among the other albums but I really like the cover of "Please Please Me" and the story that goes with it. It's also neat that it was later recreated for the blue album.
-
Rubber Soul and A Hard Day's Night.
Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour are my joint second pairing.
-
Abbey Rd cover goes well with the music, it looks and sounds like summer !
-
Beatles For Sale - just for the composition, the expressions on the boys' faces and for the colours. The music is lovely too ;D
-
Abbey Rd cover goes well with the music, it looks and sounds like summer !
Funny, I've always thought 'Abbey Road' to be their least "sunny" record. 'Here Comes The Sun' is the obvious exception, but other than that, not much happiness or optimism there.
-
Rubber Soul for me.
-
I think I have to go with Revolver!
To me it has everything a Beatle fan could want. Hard rock, classicalish, love songs Indian etc... all laid out with awesome musicianship. You can here a bit of everything in there.
-
Funny, I've always thought 'Abbey Road' to be their least "sunny" record. 'Here Comes The Sun' is the obvious exception, but other than that, not much happiness or optimism there.
I think Sun King has a tropical laid back vibe (isnt there even cicadas in the background) ? 'Because' has 'because the sky is Blue' etc and Octopuses garden reminds me of summer somehow, the opening guitar riff sounds bright and happy....the whole thing to me (guitar tones) has a bright blue sky feel - maybe its just me ;)
-
Top 3:
1. Revolver (this album wins everything for me :D)
2. Abbey Road
3. Help!
-
Seeing as it's just the one choice, I'd have to go for Abbey Road, Rubber Soul and Revolver ;D
-
I rather like the simplicity of 'With The Beatles'.
The group were better served on their original LPs than with the various compilations over the years.
'20 Greatest Hits', '1', 'Past Masters 1 & 2' - dull, 'Reel Music' - dire, and I didn't care too much for the 'Anthology' artwork.
However, the two 'Live at the BBC' records were beautifully presented and could easily fit in between the early LPs.
-
A cover I really like but almost forgot is the With the Beatles/ Meet the Beatles black and white cover photo. Very artsy and moody. Not bad for 1963.
"Meet The Beatles" came out early in '64, but I know what you meant, as the UKs "With The Beatles" came out late in '63 icon_good
I absolutely love Canada's "BEATLEMANIA! WITH THE BEATLES" that came out a few days later than the UKs's same song version of "With The Beatles", mainly because: a) It's Canadian like myself, and b) in came out in '63, just like me... ;D

Sorry Bingo but I think its horrible compared to the English one
they completely ruined it by printing reviewers quotes all over the front
If I was a Beatle or Brian E I wouldve stirred a lot of sh*t over that roll:)

I think that would have been better on the back.

Funny how I think it's just amazing and other people find it quite the opposite! :o
It's all good, I'll just go in the corner and cry a little bit and pretend I didn't read this!!! ;D

No need for tears bingo, its just an opinion
I dont think reporters should get theyre name on the from of an album cover
I know what you mean though about a cover meaning a lot to you

If it cheers you up any Bingo, I've always had a soft spot for Canada's "Twist And Shout" album cover; it features my favourite of all the 1963 "jump" shots:

And the 3rd and final Canadian Capitol record (Before reverting to US versions), "Long Tall Sally" also a title of the 5th UK EP was very similar to the US Beatles Second Album. glassesslip

Abbey Road. It's iconic beyond belief. After that, Sgt Pepper and Revolver would round out my top three. They're all works of art.
-
Beatles For Sale
Hard Days Night
-
Rubber Soul or With The Beatles. Great photos both of them
Revolver was my favourite "arty" cover.

Mine is either Sgt Peppper's or Revolver. I don't why I like Revolver, it just looks cool, but I like Sgt Pepper's because of the idea of putting people that inspired them on the cover.

Good choices, svalis, and welcome to the forum!

The Sgt. Pepper cover is too iconic in every conceivable way for it not to be number one in my eyes. Honourable mention goes to Beatles For Sale, Rubber Soul, Revolver, With The Beatles, Abbey Road, Hey Jude, Yesterday & Today and The White Album. Heck they're all fantastic!

Love em all, that's the trouble

Yeah, that’s the truth. They’re all good. I like them all for different reasons. If I really had to pick though, I’d probably say Sgt. Pepper.
