Their best cover is my opinion on a movie "across the universe" in a song - I am the Walrus

I Am The Walrus was covered by Bono in Across The Universe. I have the soundtrack. For Bono, it's a good cover.

Forgot about Anne Murrays cover of 'You Wont See Me'.

Anne Murray - You Won't See Me

John Lennon said it was the best Beatles cover he's ever heard so who am I to argue.

'Dear Prudence' by the wonderful Siouxsie And The Banshees (as already mentioned), but they also did a terrifying version of 'Helter Skelter' on their first LP 'The Scream', and much later did a brilliant version of 'Blue Jay Way'...  :)
Good ol' Siouxsie :)
Cheers,
Steve.

Yet Another Bad Beatle Song Cover
« Reply #75 on: November 12, 2009, 01:53:51 AM »

I wasn't sure if I should put this is an existing topic or not, so I guess the mods can merge it if they want.

Anyway, I went to the movies today to see 'Men Who Stare At Goats' (wasn't crazy about it) and in the previews before the movie, I saw one for a new movie called 'Did You Hear About the Morgans?'. The movie actually looks pretty decent (for a rom-com that is), but in the trailer, there's a TERRIBLE cover of 'We Can Work It Out'. I was so mad when I heard it because that's one of my all time favorite Beatles song. Why can't they just leave them the way they are?

Best Verion of "This Boy"
« Reply #76 on: November 12, 2009, 03:54:40 AM »

I came across a cover on This Boy on Youtube.  The three girls who sing seem to hit all the notes perfectly and I was very impressed.  Has anyone heard a better version from any cover bands such as 1964?  This is also a forum you can post your favorite Beatles youtube covers you've found.

This is hands down my favorite Beatles cover:
Ramallah- A Day In The Life

Why? Because they take the song to an entirely different musical genre while staying surprisingly faithful to the original. They turned it into a an incredibly dark, loud and mean monster but essentially it's still the same old 'A Day In The Life'. I think it's incredibly creative how they managed to translate this song to this genre while staying so close to the original structure and uarrangement. The "sugarplum fairy" intro is a nice detail.
