Which album should I get next?
« on: September 26, 2005, 03:40:24 AM »

I own

Revolver
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Abbey Road
The Capitol Albums vol. 1 box set

Right now I'm leaning towards The White Album for length and what I have heard is phenomenal but I wanted a more expierienced fans opinion.

The Beatles didn't release a single bad album all of them were amazing, The White Album is my faourite just because of how many different styles of music are on it, essential ones you are missing (there all essential but more essential than others) Rubber Soul, Magical Mystery Tour, The White Album and Let It Be. You would be more than pleased with any of these

But dude, don't you think he's probably heard most of the songs from AHDN and Rubber Soul? Those are the songs they ALWAYS play on the radio. With the exeptions of Think For Yourself, It's Only Love and Wait.  Now I agree with Rubber Soul, but I think the White Album is a great pic because it will dispell the myth that the Beatles are all about fluffy pop songs. Not that I'm arguing with you TK. I love you man.

Thanks darling and yes, your logic makes perfect sence. The White Album would definately provide more diversity and more music too, but dagnabit, they all need bought sooner or later.

Now then, its hard to find around Northern Wisconsin (as Beatles work tends to be) and The White Album in Northern Wisconsin (as Beatles work tends to be) is quite expensive for me. The White Album is over $35. Is it worth it? If not I'm just going to download it track by track.

It is SO worth it.

Rubber Soul is as much a turning point album as Revolver, if not more. The Word shows that John was dealing with 'love in the abstract' before All You Need Is Love, George does his first forays into world music on Norwegian Wood with his sitar, and it's the first album that works on themes not related to boy-meets-girl ballads. George's songwriting is starting to get superlative, and If I Needed Someone deserves to be a Beatles classic. The production is fine also. Better than Revolver I reckon.

Well, I WOULD buy it but the thing is, I've already downloaded the first 17 tracks. I guess I'll go with Rubber Soul, which is okay because I'm saving a few bucks this way. Well, I also wanna get HELP! or With The Beatles but after that last post, I'll go with Rubber Soul becuase I've heard Norwegian Wood and I'm in love with it.

Y'know I've always wondered if The Beatles had any instrumentals. Now I know. But I don't wanna pick up Submarine yet because its only got six (?) original tracks, or so I've heard? Are the instrumentals the tracks only on that album :-/

The instrumentals aren't the Beatles playing. It's George Martin's stuff. He conducts an orchestra. It was the backing music for the movie. But the new Yellow Submarine CD doesn't include this as far as I know? I don't know. The only instrumentals I can think of by the Beatles are Flying and The End. Which only has the one line. I thought there was another but my minds a blank.

I was just kidding about 'Yellow Submarine'. My advice is just go down the line. There aren't that many official releases. Each one is brilliant in its own way. Go to half.com and get 'em new/used for pretty cheap.
