He's really cool.  Extremely varied too.  I love his grumbling voice, so perfect.  One of my favorite songs, San Diego Serenade.

"I never saw the sunrise, till i stayed up all night long.
I never heard the melody, until I needed the song."

I knew thered be somebody out there who loved him!  I dont have all his stuff (far from it).  I got into him when I heard the opening track in THings to Do in Denver When You're Dead, which is Jockey Full Of Bourbon.  For a long time that was the only song I had of him.  Then I realized that another song I loved, from a scene in Fight Club, Goin' Out West, was by him.  So i decided I needed to get more.  He's really remarkable and his longevity is amazing.  So many great songs.

Speaking of a mold breaker this is it! Unique unto himself! You either love him or hate him. No in between. I'm feeling the "love"!

I quite like him, but I couldn't listen to him more than 2 hours in a row. Closing Time must be one of the best debuts albums of the 1970s.

'Ol 55 and Downtown Train are 2 great songs by him that other artists made really popular.  His voice on Downtown Train is classic
