« on: April 11, 2010, 01:14:28 PM »

I was watching a Beatles documentary and this song is in it, but doesn't say what the name is.

I did not download the song. It might be a virus.  :P

Nothing personal, but 9 out of 10 people that ask for any kind of favor in their very first post on a forum are either spammers or scammers. So you'll have to excuse us for being a bit hesitant to click on your link.

Argh...

Fine, I'll say the lyrics, maybe you can recognize it...

I don't know the lyrics exactly, but this is what it sounds like:

"Doh- set to me- you know - it's gonna be alright. Tonight! Doh- set to me-.... etc.."

The song is quite lively and fast.

The tune in the beginning goes something like:

C (low) (long)
DEGAC (going up)
ACAGA

I have one person, who has listened to it, and told me that it's "not the Beatles", but that seems unlikely, since the documentary showed the Beatles singing it! Unless it's a rare song?

Oh, and it's not Revolution, because I've got that song, and it sounds completely different.

Plus the song is not a Beatles song. It's not a rare song, it's just not The Beatles.

So who is it? Why would they show the real Beatles performing, with this song in the background if it wasn't the Beatles?

It sounds like the Beatles... doesn't it? The melody didn't record very well for some reason..., but the vocals came out okay.

Being not-so-smart me, I downloaded the clip, and it hasn't hurt my computer yet. My anti-virus program also said it was safe.

Oh, I don't know the song though. It sounds like a song they'd play circa '62, and that might be totally off, you can barely hear what they're saying around all of the screaming.

What I'm looking for a song and I don't know the artist or title I always Google the lyrics like this:
Quote
"speaking words of wisdom" lyrics
Unless the song is so obscure that nobody ever bothered to put the lyrics online it never fails.

It could be though that it's just a piece of music written and recorded by jingle writer/studio band specifically for the documentary. It's quite common that they do something like that when it's an unauthorized documentary and they don't have the rights to use the original music. The 'Long And Winding Road' dvd box set and the 'The Quiet One' dvd (about George) use quite a lot of crappy music that's supposed to sound like the Beatles but was probably recorded specifically for those dvd's.

Hmm.. I think you're probably right. I went over the doc and I didn't actually recognize any real Beatles songs in there.

Oh well.. Thanks anyway.

I checked the credits and it says the music came from 'The Liverpool Echo'.

That does sound like the perfect name for a fake studio band trying to sound like The Beatles, doesn't it?

I'm just thinking though. The song I uploaded isn't that bad...

Easily fooled me into thinking it was the Beatles. Makes me wonder if there was anything really special about the Beatles...

Liverpool Echo has zero popularity compared to the Beatles. Maybe Beatles were over rated?

I mean, really, what's wrong with that song? (btw, I think the name of the song is 'Girl said to me')

Of course they were! There were zillions of bands trying to copy the Beatles and they all remained unknown. Why couldn't The Beatles share some of their fame? The Beatles really weren't that big and influencial at all and were really really overrated by miles.

If you can paint a detailed copy of the Mona Lisa it doesn't mean you're as brilliant as Leonardo da Vinci.

And being able to sound like The Beatles doesn't mean you have the capacity to write 29 #1 hits in eight years or to start a musial revolution.

No. There's a huge difference between copying music in an attempt to just sound like another band, and being influenced by other artists and doing something entirely new and original with these influences (like The Beatles did).

Gotta say you're not really living up to your screen name, by the way. ;)

Yeah, I couldn't think of any other names :P

Anyway, I don't hate the Beatles or anything. I just wish more bands got at least some recognition.
