Fun time to be a Macca fan
« on: January 26, 2016, 06:01:02 PM »

I remember the late 80's and early 90's just absorbing everything I could of Pauls and loving it.  He was touring again and doing interesting things and it was just a special time for me.  I doubt i'll ever feel that way again.

I wasn't sure where to put this.

From https://www.paulmccartney2022.com (not an official site, it is noted):

Beatle, Wing, and solo superstar Paul McCartney is still going strong in 2022, and while we don't know much about upcoming North American tour plans just yet, we'll update this site as soon as more info becomes available.

I'm happy to hear Paul is still going strong 5 months ahead of time.  ha2ha  (And "Wing"? Someone forgot to proofread, tsk, tsk . . . )

If a member of the Beatles is a Beatle, why can’t a member of Wings be a wing?  ;D

That is a very good point! Being a b****y editor, I was too quick to judge.  8)

Hmmmm, never mind, I stand by my original comment given that the formal name is Paul McCartney and Wings.

Although I am a b****y editor.  ;D

Ah.  Good point.  I forgot that’s the full name.

He was the Wing master! Not a wing himself

Very true BLM  icon_good

On the original point of the thread, I think late 80s til mid 90s were great for Beatle fans in general.

As Tkitna says, Paul had his revival after a pretty dismal 80s post Tug of War. Also, George came out of hibernation with his hit album Cloud 9, followed by Travelling Wilburys and even did a (gasp) tour, and Ringo emerged from his alcoholism with one of his best albums, Time Takes Time, and started his All Starr Band. And then came the Anthology.

It was the last time we saw the three remaining Beatles as working, relevant musos again. Post anthology George went back to his garden as he battled his illness, leaving it to Paul and Ringo to carry the Beatle flag. They were becoming venerable artefacts rather than really mixing it with the current hitmakers, with some occasional exceptions by Paul.
