Why in alot of vidio clips an pictures of John lennon does he always seem to be pulling cripple faces?
-
he showed a bit of contempt in alot of those faces too.he was just letting off steam as it were........

What would you do with millions of camer's thrust into your face for decades?

moon

He always did that, even in 1963, 64 and 65. I think he stopped doing them in his psychedelic period. Or has anyone seen JOHN pulling faces during the Sgt Pepper's period? Certainly not me. But he did it just because he had fun. Cynthia says in her biography he always took off cripples and deformed pepole even when nobody knew him back in Liverpool and they were up on a bus. It was just JOHN.

George sort of explained it in the Anthology. At least what he thought about it. I can't
remember exactly what he said though.
-
something about how crippled kids would be at the show as an outing and John would be onstage doing his hand clap/kick routine.
-
john in fact always had this kinda attitude to where it seemed he had contempt for the fans.sometimes he loved us other times he hated us.we were his critics.and he loved and hated us for that.
if you watch live peace in toronto he makes gestures at the auidence.i heard he did it at madison square gardens too, with elton john.so i don't think he out grew it.it was something he did at shows from germany way back-thru the beatles and till the sir lew grade show.one of the last public lennon preformances.a great rendition of imagine on there and slippin and slidin.john in a red jump suit.chewing gum.is that kinda rude too???
he was always worried deep down i believe by this question "WHY SHOULD I CARE WHAT THEY THINK?"but he was a far harsher critic than we......just ramblin
-
he goofed on cripples he said so himself.he hated how the promoters would trod the sickly out front in their concerts.looking down and seeing people with broken legs,in wheel chairs and others.he said what did they think the beatles could heal them??any one remember reading that?it may even be on a spoken interveiw.he said he was not pleased with the situation.and ask brian about it.
he didn't dig it look it up

so there no deep meaningful reason why he did it. he just did it as a joke. i.ve seen him pulling cripple faces in photo's from the end of the sixties. I think john probably didnt like the fact that he was sort of owned by the fans. Once i was reading an interview with him from about 1965 an there in his car an all the kids are jumping on it and the interviewer asks him if he minds his car getting smashed up and john says that the kids can smash it up cos they payed for it. john alos called himself a performing flea sometimes an i think he didnt like the fact that he had to perform for people. but at the same time he probably loved all the fame.
