Did you pay less for it because it had a crack?  Are you planning to switch cases and sell it for more?

I stood in line waiting for Macy's to open in November 1968 to buy the White Album the day it was released.  It must have had a low number stamped on it, but I wouldn't know today.  I gave it to a girlfriend a year later.

I hope she kept it!

No I am going to either keep it in the case with the crack or replace the back cover that's all.

Then keep the case with the crack.  You'll be happy knowing that it was the case the disk came in and "original."  Every so often, I receive a CD I've ordered with some damage to the case.  Sometimes it's a small crack.  Sometimes it's broken tabs holding the disk in place.  That's how it is with jewel cases.

Hey, someone in this forum was hesitant opening his mono version remastered box set!  Apparently there's a fine line between being a "die-hard Beatles fan" and being just plain silly.

Oh yeah I would open The Beatles Mono box set in a second when I get one which will probably be early in the new year. I am at my limit for all of my birthday and Christmas presents already!  LOL   Yeah my birthday is in December. I bought every remastered stereo CD individually plus a ton of Beatles records to try to complete my record collection as well. So all that adds up. Therefore the $239.00 or whatever for the mono box set needs to wait till next year. AND yeah I think your right about the White Album CD jewel case just "letting it be" LOL no pun intended!  :)

Yep! It's catalogue number is 'CDS 7 46443 8' & 'CD-PCS7067/8'.  White CD tray, and the 'serial no.' is 36850.
What about yours?

FYI, i bought the White Album CD the day it was released (in the USA) back in 1987 and i still have it. It came in two separate jewel cases, has white plastic trays, and serial #CDP 7 46443 2.
It has a number printed on the front cover as well, 237708.

assigning 'collectability' to a compact disc the way people collect rare vinyl is wrong
it's not a jewel case.... it's plastic
-
the beatles were pioneers of album rock
compact discs were the end of albums
-
no b sides
and besides, the frickin paper is so small that album cover art went out the window too

Somehow I never got to buy the 1987 discs... I think I was still happy with my vinyl those days.

sometimes i wonder if younger people who listen to CDs of classic albums wonder why a really good song usually comes on about 1/2 way through . . .
it's because that was the opening track of side 2

Bobber, the White Album CDs were the last I purchased only ten years ago or so.  I was happy with my LPs too...as worn as some of the tracks were playing them backward and forward and at different speeds looking for clues.
