While George's Extra Texture is usually ranked one of his worst albums, I like several of the tunes on it more than stuff on some of his better received albums like George Harrison. One if the good tunes is This Guitar Can't Keep from Crying which unfortunately was overlooked as people assumed it was some lame sequel to While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
Dave Stewart's Platinum Weird project did another version with George on vocals. To be honest I'm not sure if it's a remix, remake or a bit of both. I think all parts have been re recorded including George's vocals. And apparently Ringo is involved as well although I'm not sure if he's done the drum track itself.
Either way I like this version. It's a bit more straightforward than the original with drums much more prominent giving the song more drive. The guitar work, I presume by Stewart, is less distinctive then the work on the original but sounds good nonetheless. George's vocal is deeper and fuller. A big plus is it's lost that dated bass synth that seemed all over Extra Texture.
