I'll bet no one, classmate or teacher, gave her any grief at school!

Arrgh! I'm stuck here at work waiting for a computer to install 39 updates so I can turn off the power strip. The really dumb part is that it's not actually even doing anything because it has software that prevents patrons from making changes. I'm afraid of shutting it off though. These computers run my life!

I'm watching a movie called 'Transcendence' where computers take over the world.

Powerful movie.

Kelley, ignore the "do not shut off computer" warning while updates are being installed.  If your 'puter is hung up, just shut it down.  Nothing bad will happen.  When you turn it back on, it will go through the update installation routine again.

I can see that happening!

I'll remember that for next time!

Went to Le Tour de France in...erm...Woodford Green, Essex, England today!

What amazed me, apart from the fever pitch excitement of it all, was the absolute democracy of the event.
Old people, young people, male, female, people of different nationalities - and all of us paid the princely sum of 'zilch' to see it.

Adds fuel to my theory that, in 2014, the more you pay for something the less value you're likely to get.

I'm back home, thank God. If I hear one more Bob Marley cover song I think I'm going to vomit. (I couldn't even listen to the originals on the way home!)

Hope you all have been well. Can't wait to catch up on the forum! I hope those of you who were able to catch AHDN on the big screen had a fab time.  :)

Welcome home Kathy and I promise we won't make you listen to any reggae covers. We have this little shop in town called Ice Cream Island. It's the same sort of thing there and also Jimmy Buffet covers. Lots of them. I usually send one of the kids down to bring it home. :)

Welcome back, Kathleen.  When you cruise the Caribbean expect to hear reggae, I reckon.  Perhaps they should have played Paul's very ska early take of Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da...

The Beatles - Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da (Take 5)

 ;)

Take an Alaska cruise next time and you'll hear...

Manfred Mann - Mighty Quinn 1967

Thanks, Kelley and Barry! After 2 weeks with my estranged/dysfunctional family, my nerves are pretty much shot.  :-\

Urgh, I was waiting -- hoping, almost -- to hear some Jimmy Buffet, just to get a break from "Is This Love," "Three Little Birds," etc., but no dice. It was a bit bizarre, actually; I would think Jimmy Buffet covers would be as popular as Bob Marley covers.

Perhaps they should have played Paul's very ska early take of Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da...

That would have been infinitely better!

"Desmond" was Paul's tribute to Desmond Dekker...

Desmond Dekker & The Aces - "Israelites" (Official Audio)

Desmond Dekker & The Aces   1968

Great early reggae right there!!

On your cruise, they shoulda played...

The Harder They Come

JIMMY CLIFF - The Harder They Come

Jimmy Cliff   1972

Some good rough and tumble reggae there!!

I remember being on vacation in Saint-Martin in 1979.  One night, a local band was playing calypso standards by the pool.  The guests were enjoying it.  Me too, but they looked like a band that could play reggae so I walked up to the guitarist and asked him to play some reggae.  He quietly nodded and when they finished playing Yellow Bird, they played The Harder They Come followed by a couple more reggae songs.  You could see the band members were so happy doing that!  I think the guests enjoyed it too.  Then it was back to calypso...and Rum and Coca-Cola.

I really wish Firefox would stop updating with Beta versions. Every time they do that my You Tube experience gets messed up in some way! This is the worst; now I can only watch YouTube videos with Internet Explorer...and tons of ads. I guess it's time for me to adjust my Firefox settings to prevent automatic updates.

Yesterday I passed a sign advertising a local children's theater production of Macbeth. Seems a rather dark choice for a children's theater group.  ha2ha

Out, damned spot! out, I say!--One: two: why,
then, 'tis time to do't.--Hell is murky!--Fie, my
lord, fie! a soldier, and afeard? What need we
fear who knows it, when none can call our power to
account?--Yet who would have thought the old man
to have had so much blood in him.

Lady Macbeth   Act 5, Scene 1

Yeah, this is good stuff.  But for kids?
