Who would you pick ?
« on: November 28, 2011, 11:27:43 PM »

If all The Beatles were still alive and you won a prize of a dinner with one of them at theyre place ......which would you chose ?

This would be exptremely hard for me  ;D

Would love to spend and evening with Paul, talk songs, guitars, gear etc etc he seems an easy guy to get on with, then again George was so mystical and a lovely guy, nothing big headed about George AND imagine spending a few hours in Crackerbox Palace  ha2ha

Having thought so much about it I would have to pick John (my favourite Beatle) yes he could be a prick, but IMO he was the greatest Brit ever (I even rate him higher than Shakespeare) Ive loved him from the first time I saw him on TV as a young boy in 1964, so at the end of the day it would HAVE to be John for me.

I know I havent mentioned Ringo but he wouldnt be in the running for me as much as I like him..

Gosh, this is a hard question! They all would be so interesting to talk to. If I knew for sure that John would be in a good mood I'd pick him. He was so funny and for some reason I've had several dreams where I'm talking to him and it's always been very nice.

I think the hardest thing about John would be how to shut him up for 5 minutes

John greatest Brit ever? He is my idol, but how can you nimrod say this? I would put him in top 10, with 1. Newton (my proffesor calls him greatest man ever)and 2. Shakespeare

Anyway, my choice - John ofc!:)

It would be Paul, just because of the fact that I like his personality more than the other's and I think the two of us could get along pretty well. But of course, I wouldn't mind any of them.  :)

John because he wasn't a vegetarian.

I don't see why eating with a vegetarian should be a problem for someone who isn't a vegetarian?

I actually don't mind most vegetarian dishes, I was just being cheeky.

But seriously, I would love to have dinner with John and discuss philosophy while getting wine drunk.

He was actually voted 8th by the British public (But #1 for me)  ;D

100 Greatest Britons was broadcast in 2002 by the BBC. The programme was the result of a vote conducted to determine whom the United Kingdom public considers the greatest British people in history.[1][2] The series, Great Britons, included individual programmes on the top ten, with viewers having further opportunities to vote after each programme.[3] It concluded with a debate. All of the top 10 were dead by the year of broadcast.
The poll resulted in candidates including Guy Fawkes, who was executed for trying to blow up the Parliament of England; Oliver Cromwell who created a republican England; King Richard III, suspected of murdering his nephews; James Connolly, an Irish nationalist and socialist who was executed by the Crown in 1916; and a surprisingly high ranking of 17th for the former Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em star Michael Crawford. In addition to the Britons, some notable non-British entrants were listed, including two Irish nationals, the philanthropic musicians Bono and Bob Geldof. Furthermore, many candidates were from an era in which Britishness did not exist. The top 19 entries were people of English origin (though Sir Ernest Shackleton and Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, were both born into Anglo-Irish families when what is now the Republic of Ireland was part of the United Kingdom). The highest-placed Scottish entry was Alexander Fleming in 20th place, with the highest Welsh entry, Owain Glyndŵr, at number 23.[4] Sixty had lived in the twentieth century. The highest-ranked living person was Margaret Thatcher, who placed 16th.[5] Ringo Starr is the only member of The Beatles not on the list.
[edit]Top 10 on the list

They are as follows:

Sir Winston Churchill, (1874–1965), British politician, Prime Minister during World War II
Isambard Kingdom Brunel, (1806–1859), civil engineer, creator of Great Western Railway, and designer of numerous significant ships and bridges.
Diana Spencer (1961–1997), first wife of Charles, Prince of Wales (marriage 1981–1996), and mother of Prince William, now Duke of Cambridge, and Prince Harry of Wales
Charles Darwin (1809–1882), naturalist, originator of the theory of evolution through natural selection and author of On the Origin of Species.
William Shakespeare (1564–1616), English poet and playwright, thought of by many as the greatest of all writers.
Sir Isaac Newton (1643–1727), physicist, originator of the laws of classical mechanics and gravity.
Queen Elizabeth I of England (1533–1603), monarch (reigned 1558–1603)
John Lennon (1940–1980), musician with The Beatles, philanthropist, peace activist, artist
Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson (1758–1805), naval commander
Oliver Cromwell (1599–1658), Lord Protector

I'd pick Paul and ask him why he hung around those other three losers.

Todd... ever the cynic...

It would be a very hard choice, because they all would have great things to talk about and great stories. Sometimes the same story, told with different details.

After I beat myself up trying to make a decision, I would pick George. He is my favorite Beatle, just because of his sense of humor and his quiet nature. I think we would get along well.

However, I must say, if given the choice about with whom I'd most like to smoke a joint, the answer would definitely be RINGO!
