The Beatles Playlist - interesting concept
« on: August 31, 2009, 11:13:56 AM »

Hey everyone. The site spectrumculture.com has an interesting Beatles feature going that I think everyone here will enjoy and debate.

"The idea is simple enough: make a playlist...centered around one artist or band with a deep catalog. There is only one parameter, however. Our charge is to limit our playlist to just one song per album per discography. You can imagine how difficult this task could be when you're talking about the Beatles."

Okay, I'm game. But I'm cheating a little bit -- I'm using the U.S. catalogue of albums, so I've got more to choose from.

Please Please Me (from The Early Beatles -- U.S. version of Please Please Me LP, released in '65)
I Want to Hold Your Hand (Meet the Beatles)
She Loves You (The Beatles Second Album)
A Hard Day's Night (AHDN Soundtrack)
Things We Said Today (Something New)
I Feel Fine (Beatles '65)
Words of Love (Beatles VI)
Help! (Help! Soundtrack)
It's Only Love (Rubber Soul -- tough to leave off In My Life, Girl, Norwegian Wood, etc.!)
I'm Only Sleeping (Yesterday and Today)
Tomorrow Never Knows (Revolver)
A Day in the Life (Sgt. Pepper's)
All You Need is Love (Magical Mystery Tour)
Happiness is a Warm Gun (White Album -- extremely tough to take just one song from this one)
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (Yellow Submarine Soundtrack)
Here Comes the Sun (Abbey Road -- another impossible album to choose from)
Across the Universe (Let it Be)
Hey Jude (Hey Jude)

So many ommissions, but still a pretty good album there.
