Did paul play a rickenbacker?
-
It's a Hofner bass I believe
-
whats a rickenbacker?
-
his bass was preety cool. It looked like an antique.

I'm pretty sure it's a Hofner bass. I remember him mentioning at the Grammy's that he used it during the Ed Sullivan Performance, and I know I've met a man that bought one because Paul used it.

Here's a website that lists ALL of his equipment over the years! Just scroll down to the basses section. It's kind of interesting! But then, anything about Paul is interesting to me. ;D

I wrote a piece about Paul's bass - it took me hours!!! LOL! It clears up some of the confusion over Paul's early Hofner, and also illustrates the basses he's had over the years. You can read it here:

thats right, if theres a topic as few as one person cares about, you can be sure that the End has researched it painstakingly already.

The bass that Paul usually used in the early years (the violin shaped one) was a Hofner, the one he used in (for instance) the All You Need Is Love tv special was a Rickenbacker. Those two were his favorites.
