Songs that seem to be a copy of previously released ones. The following examples are songs released even the same year of the supposedly copied ones. First song is the original and the second one is the copy. Copies or not, I like them all.
"You Really Got Me" (The Kinks, 1964) = "All Day And All Of The Night" (The Kinks, 1964)
The Kinks - You Really Got Me (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qbzx-1xbHvQ#)
the kinks all day and all of the night (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4DV-5d6a5g#)
"The Last Time" (The Rolling Stones, 1965) = "A Legal Matter" (The Who, 1965)

Hi Hombre_de_ningun_lugar! WOW, this is a very interesting thread! What about this one:
The Chiffons - He's So Fine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMrFht6ryTg#)
George Harrison - My Sweet Lord HD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qdKZBXMX5E#)

Since we're on the subject of THE KINKS, how bout these two as follows:
"Tired Of Waiting For You" (THE KINKS 1965) = "Where Have All The Good Times Gone" (THE KINKS 1965)
The Kinks - Tired of waiting for you (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMp2WgcmZRQ#)
the kinks -where have all the good times gone (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnB3CHwPipU#)
-
The Doors Light My Fire copies a Kinks song
-
Here's two songs that I always thought were a little similar, they are:
"Whole Lotta Love" (LED ZEPPELIN 1969) = "American Woman" (THE GUESS WHO 1969)
Whole Lotta Love Led Zeppelin Lyrics (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09e_naTLVxo#)
The Guess Who-American Woman lyrics (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OR6HkGS11c#)
-
Any Nickelback album. All their songs are the same.
-
Here are two other songs that have the same parody, FLEETWOOD MAC (The Peter Green Era) would influence THE BEATLES to write this song as follows:
"Albatross" (FLEETWOOD MAC 1969) = "Sun King" (THE BEATLES 1969)
Fleetwood Mac - Albatross (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8scHKFwr0og#)
The Beatles - Sun King (2009 Stereo Remaster) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ximP4S9O9Vs#)

Not necessarily BeatlesForever. I just mentioned those curious cases.

That's interesting. I hadn't heard that Beach Boys' song before. Yes, it's pretty similar to "Ticket To Ride", from the chorus to the 12-string guitar.

I think that during the early days the Kinks were the masters of repeating themselves. However I find "Tired Of Waiting For You" to be more similar to "Set Me Free", also from 1965.
Kinks - Set Me Free (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaojZhoeE5s#)

actually Im wrong there, its 'Hello I Love You, Wont You Tell Me Your Name' same tune as 'All Day and All of The Night'

I know what you mean, "Set Me Free" does have a little feel of sounding like "Tired Of Waiting For You." I LOVE THE KINKS! Take care.

I've always thought that the mid jam session of "Echoes" by PINK FLOYD sounded a little like GEORGE HARRISON's jam song "Out of The Blue" from the ALL THINGS MUST PASS album. George's song came out first in 1970, PINK FLOYD'S song came out in 1971. I can't find "Out Of The Blue" by GEORGE HARRISON on Youtube, if you have the ALL THINGS MUST PASS CD, please listen to the song "Out Of The Blue" either on your stereo or computer in order to make the necessary comparisons. Here's PINK FLOYD'S "Echoes." NOTE: Move the song to the 7 minute mark in order to listen to the jam session.

Interesting topic! There's been some songs that I've noticed like this but I can't for the life of me think of them right now. ;D

I was going to tell you that. It's true that the tune is very similar even though the songs are different in style.

Just listen to the middle-eight, it's virtually the same! Other Kinks' songs that come to my mind are "Sunny Afternoon" and "Dead End Street". Do you think they're similar? I love the Kinks as well. Have a good night.

Hi Hombre_de_ningun_lugar! How are you? I've heard both "Sunny Afternoon" and "Dead End Street," they do sound similar. WOW, you do have a good ear for music. Take care.

Hi BeatlesForever, I'm doing great and you? More than having a good ear I think that it's that I've listened to those songs so many times so that I've naturally found the similarity. I'm a big fan of the Kinks. Take care.

I'm doing great Hombre_de_ningun_lugar, thanks for asking. I've seen THE KINKS live quite a few times including in the 1970's. Take care.

That's great. I've heard that Ray Davies is a great showman, is that true?
-

Yes, Ive seen him solo and with the Kinks, he is very good, although these days he cheats a bit by getting the crowd to sing the chorus's on things like Lola (while he stops and claps) ;D
-

Without a doubt, it's true! In my opinion, he has the same charisma and showmanship as Mick Jagger. However, Ray Davies is so funny on stage that he'll have you rolling on the ground!

Hi Hello Goodbye! What's happening? I admit, these two songs always confused me, it sounds like "You Wear It Well" is "Maggie May" being played backwards! ha2ha I love both songs very much, they are genuine classics!
I even used to get confused as to who was ROD STEWART and who was RONNIE WOOD! I swear, they both looked alike when they were younger! The only way I could tell them apart was the color of their hair.
Isn't this show (The video) THE FACES' farewell show? It sure looks like it! If so, this is the show where Keith Richards makes an appearance before taking Ronnie to THE STONES! Take care.

This two Yardbirds' songs also sound similar:

Whats amazing me here Hombre is I havent heard Signed DC for years and the intro is a complete rip off of Nights In White Satin, You can almost hear Justin Haywards voice come in.........even the bass line in the chorus sounds very very similar :o

Yes, that's true! But the original version of "Signed D.C." was made in 1966 in Love's debut album (I didn't find it in youtube), before that Moody Blues song. The original intro was more or less similar but much shorter. Nevertheless, the intro of the new version (released in 1969) may well have been a copy of that Moody Blues song.

I keep trying to hear this but all I can hear is "Nights in White Satin"! It was nice to listen to "House of the Rising Sun" though. It's one of my favorites. My brother used to let me strum while he played the chords for this song. Sadly, it's as close as I've ever come to playing the guitar. I sure do love to listen to other people play though!

Hi In My Life! I do hear a little simlarities too.

I dug out the original Signed DC which you are right has a shorter intro Hombre, the bass line is also different but the chords the same so maybe Justin copied Love ???

It seems that Justin copied Love and then Arthur copied the bass line of that Moody Blues song as a revenge! ;D

I agree, I love both songs very dearly!

I think the bass line is different but the tune is the same as the original which changed in 1967 to the original which was then copied onto the newer version which has the original bass line but has a shorter intro than the longer version which is similar but not quite the same as the original
ha2ha

I've been enjoying my vacation this month, I have to use my vacation time this month or I'll lose it next month. Overall, I've been having a blast going from party to party at all hours of the night and meeting all kinds of people.

do any of these similarities sadden you with regard to the work of the 2nd or potential copy job? For instance, I have held My Sweet Lord in high regard and never would have found the similarities before reading this thread. Now...

Hi blmeanie! How are you? One thing's for sure, George unintentionally copied some of the chords from "He's So Fine," and it costed him a lot of money for doing so. Despite all that happened, I still love "My Sweet Lord" more than "He's So Fine." Take care.
