Title: Free as a Bird - Middle Eight (bridge) written by ...
Post by: alexis on December 31, 2009, 02:20:58 AM
You know the part that goes: "Whatever happened to, the love that we once knew ...".

Well until just now, I'd only heard the final released version, and my whole life I thought "Well, that is obviously Paul writing a middle eight because John left the song unfinished, sounds great, smooth transition, just like they used to finish each other's songs in the old days ...".

Then I heard this demo on beatlesradio.com ... they had what sounded like a home cassette early version of John working on the song, and the middle eight part was there - it was his all along!

You all probably knew that, but I was gobsmacked. It was a little different, in that it got back to the main song in a little different way (Paul did a nice job with that part!), but it was definitely John's part.

You go, boy!!
