Eight Arms to Hold you leaves audience laughing

Its a shame more people haven’t seen the Wetaskiwin Theatre Society’s production of Eight Arms to Hold You.If you haven’t seen it yet, take some time this Friday or Saturday night and go see the co-production between the theatre society and Sacred Heart Catholic School. While most of the cast is made up of students from various schools in the city, it is far from just another school production. The show features Waterworks veterans Dennis Taekema, Ross MacGregor, and writer/co-director Ken Mastel in supporting roles. But the real stars are the youth. The show, which was first staged by the Wetaskiwin Theatre Society more than 10 years ago, follows the arrival of the Beatles in America on Feb. 7, 1964.For those two young to know about the hysteria that followed the Beatles back in the day, just think what it would be like if Justin Beiber came to town.In the musical, which closes this weekend, a group of friends is bound and determined to see the singing sensations up close and personal.Hilarity ensues as the teenage girls lie their way into the Beatles’ hotel room, complete with ”borrowed” maids outfits. But do they actually get to meet their idols? You’ll just have to go see the show for yourself to find out.
