Title: Yellow and Orange
Post by: DarkSweetLady on February 25, 2012, 01:11:32 AM

I always wondered.
Was there any significance of the colors orange and yellow with George?

There was the picture of him wearing orange and yellow and the chairs behind him were orange and yellow. Then the confetti at Concert for George was orange and yellow.

Was there any importance of these colors in his faith or was it just that he liked the colors?

I think it all had to do with his Rickenbacker 360-12, DSL...

I always assumed that George Harrison's recurring use of the color orange was connected to Hinduism.  "In Hinduism, orange is connected to fire symbolism, notably in the colour of robes worn by Hindu swamis. The ochre of renunciates' robes symbolizes their inner transformation, the burning away of their egos and wants. Orange also symblozes the Swadhisthana chakra."

Notable examples of George Harrison & the colour orange:
One thing I find interesting is the sudden absence of orange during George's Dark Horse years.

Oooo nice to see that photo of my painted t-shirt show up here!

:)

Yes, i have also had the impression that the orange colour was appealing to George because it reminded him of India.  It is a color closely associated with the country.  Perhaps he liked it because it reminded him of this place and the teachings he has learned there.  From the orange of the flowers used as garlands, to the traditional clothing, it echos that enviroment.  I associate this colour with George quite a bit.  It fits him.   I know he has often said in the past that he likes to use symbolisim to help remind him of his higher purpose...his spiritual aspirations.  A little visual nudge to help remind himself of what life it really all about.   Using this colour may have been another one of his visual tools he liked to use on a subliminal level, much like the tiny OM symbols he loved to hide everywhere.  I find this beneficial myself.
