Another question...

Those who buy any of the box set. In what order you listen them?

Chronologically? Your favourites first? Random? Any other way?

If I had the box set, I'd go for the White Album first...more out of sentimentalism than anything else. (The White Album was the first Beatles CD I ever bought for myself many years ago.)

I just realized that Imagine was originally released on 09-09-71. Not really of significant importance, but interesting.

I think that I take the first sunday for a long beatles session in the order that they release it, including the singles

Me going to listen in order.  That way, not only do you get to hear them chronologically, you get to hear the technology they had and the advances they made in order, too.  Then, hopefully (!), whatever they've done to the masters will be more amazing.

Or stuff that, and go straight to Rubber Soul!  :D

couple friends of mine have heard all the new music and are beyond enthusiastic about the sound- one is firm on liking the monos of PPM & WTB much better than the stereo versions, but both agree that the sound quality, even on ripped mp3's is just remarkable.

"Baby's in Black" really jumps out at you. I was literally blown back by the beginning percussion.  Is this the mono version or stereo?

there's been some talk about the relatively spartan packaging for the remasters box.  here's an interesting alternative:

The first disc I will listen to will also be out of sentimentalism, not what is my fave.  You see, when I had just turned 9 I got a cd player for my birthday and some money.  I wanted to by a Beatles cd with the $ and bought Please Please Me as my first cd ever.  I found out later that it was the Beatles' first and I thought that was cool.  Therefore, when I get the disc, I will play it first for old times sake.

curious if you were able to purchase the mono separately, would you choose it over stereo?

I am pretty sure that I would.  I have always wanted to hear it in that format and that's the way the band (at least originally) intended me to hear it.  I would also get Sgt Pepper mono as well.

Very, very, very interesting stuff.  I'm buying the Remasters stereo box set when it comes out next Wednesday.  I've already been "bugging" a local video game store that I want one of those huge Beatle posters they have hanging in the window advertising the Beatles' "Rock Band" game.........and I'm still bugging them....

again, i have little doubt that you'll have to wait long to get the individual monos in some format...not in this day and age.

I agree.  I would love to have the actual releases though.  I am a fan of the album covers and artwork and think it is an important part.  I'm not so big on just mp3s.
