Dear friends! Could you, please, tell me how Mr Paul McCartney wrote the name of the group in the paper posted above? In one or two words? it is not that clear, but what do you think?

Jane, he wrote "The Quarry men"  He writes his r the way I do sometimes, like a lower case printed r.

I am sorry for being too insistent, but doesn`t it mean that the name is TWO words? Paul must know for sure! And he wrote the paper in 1962.  ???

Well, Paul wasn't a founding member, and like Nigel Whalley, didn't attend Quarry Bank Grammar school, so I wouldn't take his somewhat ambiguous handwritten note as 'gospel'.

On a slightly seperate note, what a ghastly school song!  :-XNo wonder they wanted to pop it's pompous bubble!

I agree with that. )

And shouldn`t the second word in the names be written with a capital letter as well? Paul wrote it with a small letter...

I am starting to wonder if they had actually settled on an 'official' way to write it. It seems there is so much evidence both ways.

Maybe they never had a discussion whether it was one or two words. As obsessive fans that we are, we want to know every minutiae of the band. Sometimes, unfortunately there is no definitive answer. Maybe we will get to the bottom of this one, but to me it is starting to look like it is going to remain a mystery.

Quarry-men
Quarrymen
Quarry Men
QuarryMen
Quarry men
quarry men
quarrymen
QUARRYMEN
QUARRY MEN

The mystery continues...

I know... "The Beatles", that is how you spell it.
