Sometimes I see teenagers, in the prime of their lives, their futures stretching out endlessly before them, acting as if they invented cool and are the most special people in the world. and you want to grab them and say "I was like you once you know. i used to think I was it as well. Enjoy it, cos it won't last."
But you can't, because you have to carry the drycleaning and you don't want to loose your seat on the bus because your gout's giving you jip. So you go home and put a record on, but your wife turns the volumn down, and anyway the news is on in five minutes.
