What is the greatest Christmas song ever?

John Lennon, Happy Xmas (War Is Over), Fairytale Of New York, The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, Bruce Springsteen, Do They Know Its Christmas, Band Aid or something else?

One of my favourites is "Feliz Navidad".  I'm not sure why, though. "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" sung by Judy Garland as absolutely beautiful.

I always hear John & Paul's songs around Christmas time. More so than any other  :)

Weird thing is that a lot of people see "We All Stand Together", "Once Upon a Long Ago" and sometimes even "Imagine" and "Mull of Kintyre" as Christmas songs... While none of them are...

And many people also see "We Are the World" by USA for Africa as a Christmas song... But it was released in March!

This is probably for the same reason that Sound of Music is shown around Christmastime (in Canada anyway, I'm told it's shown around Thanksgiving in the US): They're all very idealistic and even a bit sappy. They make people think of togetherness and being with the family.

Two funny fact about "Last Christmas":

George Michael originally wrote it as "Last Easter"... But his record company though it would have more commercial potential as a christmas song!

"Last Christmas" is to this day the best selling single in the history of the British charts that was never #1... It was kept off the top spot by Band Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas?", on which George Michael also sang.

John's number always reminds me of Leadbelly's 'Stewball.' Christmas is always spoiled for me by the constant playing of that awful Slade Christmas record. I always loved Phil Spector's Christmas album - a classic.
