Might not be here for awhile again (Jeanne)
« on: September 24, 2004, 09:55:53 PM »

Hurricane Jeanne is rearing my way.  This one might be a 3 at landfall.

I'll probably be losing power for awhile again, so I'll be here for today a little, and tomorrow maybe.

Well, sunny (mind if I call ya that?), usually we actually don't get hit.  This year nature has decided to give us its wrath.

My area's only been hit by Frances and Jeanne, and we got our power back yesterday, so we got REALLY lucky.  With Jeanne, Frances had already knocked down most of the trees and branches, so all they have to do mostly is replace transformers and such, so power restoration is faster this time.  And, while the hurricane is scary, usually your house isn't destroyed, so you can walk around and do whatever after the storm.  This storm also moved by WAY WAY WAY faster than Frances.

So far, though, Florida's gotten hit by the following:

Bonnie (Tropical storm), Charlie (Cat. 4), Frances (Cat. 2), Ivan (Cat. 4), and Jeanne (Cat. 3).  My area got hit by the eye wall of a cat. 3 and got power back in less than a day :)

It's not as hard as you think, sun :), but it still sucks.
