Title: Vinyl swaps
Post by: peterbell1 on June 09, 2010, 10:51:39 PM
I live in the UK and have a fairly good collection of original 1960s UK vinyl, as well as some from other countries.

I have a few duplicates of certain UK records and just wondered is there anyone out there from outside the UK that also has duplicates and would be interested in swapping some vinyl?

Some examples of my spare copies are singles such as We Can Work It Out/Day Tripper, She Loves You and I Want To Hold Your Hand, and albums such as With The Beatles and Help.

All of my spares are "collection fillers" only - probably VG condition - so I'd only be looking for something similar in return.

So, for example, I have all of the original '60s Capitol LPs from the US apart from Something New, so if someone has a spare copy of that album in VG condition and wants to trade for an original UK LP in similar condition then get in touch. All it costs us is the postage price.  :)

If anyone is interested drop me a message.

Cheers
Pete

Nice idea Pete. I happen to have Something New, but I really don't know what I'ld like to have in return.

I ended up buying myself a copy of Something New from eBay.
I managed to find an excellent copy of the original mono album and only paid £18 including postage, so I now have copies of all of the original US 1960s albums.

I need to start on another country now!  ;D

Any recommendations?!

I have a few 1960s singles and EPs from France, but none of the original '60s LPs.
I think there's some very cool LP covers from France ...

And I don't have anything at all from Holland or Taiwan.

Next time I have some money burning a hole in my pocket (which doesn't happen very often!) I'll see if there's anything from those countries on eBay.

Thank you for posting those French albums, peterbell1.  Both display The Beatles' early bass head logo...

I thought that the early logo was particularly popular in France. Plus they like the 'LES Beatles' better than 'THE Beatles', because 'les' is repeated of course. Zipp, can you fill us in on this?

They were still using it as late as 1965 ....

Well the 'LES' is not really repeated because the French pronounce 'Beatles' more or less as you do. To be honest I'd never even noticed the 3 letter repetition before.

On the other hand 'THE' is difficult for the French so they avoid it for all groups. That's why they say 'les WHO, les Rolling Stones, les Sex Pistols' or whatever.

It's an expresssion that means '4 up to date guys'.

ha2ha I had to use Google to make sure I was remembering correctly for Grashüpfer but my high school German still works.

One of my favourite groups is "The The" - I don't suppose they're particularly popular in France with a name like that!!  ;D

Yeah, that's a cool album cover ... although I doubt I could ever afford an original as the first issues go for huge amounts
