Sgt Pepper Insert Question
« on: February 16, 2006, 10:24:45 AM »

hi.
I ve just got my second Sgt Pepper vinyl (work collegue had it in his garage), but the background colour (light blue) of the insert is different to the one I already own (greeny colour).
Does anyone know how many colours the insert came in, or whether these are different dated presses.
He also had a non-numbered White album (a Spanish pressing I think) and a rather tatty Rubber Soul, so it was a good day for me.
Cheers

I am only aware of the green background - do you know what country the Pepper LP originated from?

Later UK pressings of the White Album were pressed without numbers and with side-opening sleeves (as opposed to top opening) - not sure about Spanish releses though.

Thanks for that. I haven't actually put them side by side yet, so I better check first.
The White album is Italian I think now. A bit annoying cos I took it, without the inserts or number, because the vinyl was in such good nick. But the labels have "Esterio and numbers printed on them, which I imagine makes them near worthless, despite their quality.

On closer inspection it seems one is a faded version of the other. Damn!

That's a shame, Kev - thought you had a bit of a rarity there :(

RE: 'The White Album'

I don't know if this helps, but the original italian pressings were released using the UK numbering system with top-loading sleeves made in Germany. Apart from the mono pressing, it seems as if there were three stereo versions of the album available in Italy: 1) Cat No: SPMCQ 31513/4 current value (n/mint)

However, after I have mentioned the above, it seems as if all Italian pressings have 'stereo' on the labels. If your copy is printed 'estereo', then it's possible that it was pressed for a Spanish speaking country.
