Title: Stan Perkins has a snap of George in his Wallet
Post by: DoBotherMe on May 02, 2009, 06:40:40 PM
I attended the Rockabilly Legends concert last night. Stan Perkins was a featured star. Afterward I got his autograph and flashed him my George/Beatles red flicker pin. He said, "I've got something to show you." He pulled out his wallet and showed me a wellworn snap of him and George taken at Friar Park in 1988. Stan stayed there, he said George had a party and Stan played for the guests. According to Stan, George was a "great person, the best" "truly spiritual." Stan loves him too. Dana ; )

I love rock'n'roll. My step dad was an Elvis, rockabilly, motown fan. He had quite an album collection. My 8 uncles played c and w and rockabilly along with the cousins. Any good live rocknroll show ("gimme plenty of that guitar") that comes to town I lay out the money to go see. The show was great, classic Elvis with lots of Scotty Moore licks, Burnette, Monroe, Hank, Holly, Cash, the Killer, Orbison, lots of Perkins (Stan played drums for his dad's band for 20 years, and he plays a mean metallic robin's egg blue strat). And the biggest bass drum I've ever seen. Richie Lee played a Buddy Holly set, he's a kid from Des Moines (only 18 y.o.) his playing and the band jamming on Not Fade Away was the highlight. It was a great night! Dana ; )

Link to Richie Lee (I tried to post the video, but didn't do it right. How does one post youtube?)
