Star Club
« on: November 19, 2023, 04:29:11 AM »

I saw a report that Peter Jackson has said he’s bought the Star Club tapes. He can’t release them but Apple are supposedly happy for him to clean them up as best he can with MAL and go from there.

Wow; that'd be great!

I can't think of anything more eloquent than that at the moment.  ;D

I bought that too! Still have it.

I think Jackson has bought the original tape made by Kingsize Taylor.  Which the various releases like the ones we have were made from. So it won’t be new material but he can put it through MAL like they did with John’s demo of Now and Then and  see if it can be cleaned up further. Vocals in particular I’d imagine would be the target to improve and bring forward in a mix.

Wow, I really do have a lot still to learn. I hadn't been aware tapes of the Star Club performances were available. I feel like a bad Beatles fan.

It would indeed be wonderful if the audio could be cleaned up and made as crisp as John's vocals in Now and Then were.

This was the first attempt at releasing them but didn’t last very long before Apple sued them and it was taken off the market. I think Alan Williams had something to do with this release.

The performance  is all over YouTube and other sites with various levels of clean up.
