Does anybody like Badfinger?

Badfinger was also working under Apple for a while, while McCartney produced their albums. He also wrote one of their songs.

Badfinger is a great group who should have been more popular than they actually were back in the 70's but sadly they will always be the poor man's Beatles!!!

I like Badfinger a lot. Their albums 'No Dice' and 'Straight Up' should be required listening.

I really like a song called "We're for the Dark"--can't remember which album it's on.  "Straight Up" is right up there with Big Star's "Radio City" for me.

I actually love the group. Well atleast I love most of their songs. I can't say I am familiar with all of them however. I have two favorite songs by them. "Baby blue" and "Day after Day."

I'm sure I read that the lead singer committed suicide in the mid 70's...I think it was on Top of the pops.

Peter Ham hung himself in his garage in 1975. He was the leader of the band. The band continued with some lineup changes, but in 1983, Tom Evans also hung himself. Peter and Tom collaborated and wrote the hit song 'Without You' that Harry Nilsson and Mariah Carey had success with.

(I just looked and found out that Air supply, Heart, and Shirley Bassey also recorded the song, but i've never heard their versions.)

I love Come And Get It, I don't think the Beatles could've done that much better. I'm not familiar with their other work.

The Anthology version with Paul singing it sounds exactely the same in my opinion. Paul told them not to change a thing as he knew it was hit. Badfinger actually did want to change a few things in the song, but relented and did it Pauls way. It probably paid off.

That version's great too, but I prefer the Badfinger version cause Paul's version is clearly a demo. The performance is not very tight, for instance (understandable, of course).

Yeah, I get what your saying.

Didnt George help out on the song 'Day After Day'? Thought I read that somewhere.

This may sound silly, but I saw a badfinger cd in the record store a while ago and bought an oasis cd instead because i didn't like the band's name.

Sound silly? No ... most sensible thing is the world to not buy a CD because you don't like the band's name. Bugger the music, eh?

If it's the new Oasis CD, you are forgiven  :) Their best yet, since "What's The Story (Morning Glory)?"  Just...wow.
