George Duets
« on: December 13, 2008, 04:57:10 AM »

I've seen a few videos on youtube of him singing with others. Pretty awesome. George singing Homeward Bound with Paul Simon is one of my favorites. His voice fits the song perfectly.  I like when they do Here Come the Sun too. Anyway, anyone know of any other times he sang with others throughout the years?

Actually, I think I like the Here Comes the Sun one better. That song is just so perfect. PERFECTION!

BTW, how do you people who know about guitar playing rate Paul Simon as a guitarist? I'm curious because I read somewhere that the intro to some song of his that I can now not remember was very difficult to play and that he was a pretty good guitarist. I can't believe I forgot the song though! Anyway, just wondering.

Here is an out-take from The Concert for Bangladesh of George and Bob Dylan singing "If Not for You" together:

But the first song that popped into my head when I thought "George Harrison duet" was the one he did with Vicki Brown on "Shanghai Surprise."  It's too bad there's no video of them singing it together, but you can hear it:

I would have loved it if George would have recorded a song or two with his ex-backing singer, Sheryl Crow.  She is even quoted as saying that George is her all-time favourite artist.

This is from a great Carl Perkins video/DVD called A Rockabilly Session. Ringo and Eric Clapton appear on it as well unless I've got it confused with something else.

That's where I think it's from too. I remember watching this on TV years ago, didn't know it was on DVD. *adds to birthday wish list*

I bought this DVD after reading good things about it-- a bit of a stretch for me, as I can't say I'm a Rockabilly kind of gal. It was wonderful. The gig builds into this moving, affirming climax-- helped along greatly by George. I think all the guests and Carl are delightful here. Definitely worth the investment!

Thanks for posting all the other duets and links, folks! I've ferreted most of them out myself, but it's always a giddy thrill to find something new. :)
