Magical Moments
« on: January 31, 2005, 12:23:42 PM »

Talking about the trumpets on Loves Forever Changes got me thinking about those moments in songs that really get you, the bits you listen out for no matter how much you've heard the song.
For me, Beatlewise, its:
-the Blisters on my fingers ending of Helter Skelter. Unforgettable.
-going into the 3rd verse of A Day in the Life, after the 1st big "thingy"
-when the guitars crash in on the main part of Band on the Run
-the 1st na na nas on Hey jude

I really like the emphasis, almost highlighting the comfortbale situation being a Beatle affords.

i love the beginning guitar on heart full of soul by the yardbirds and the guitar work in you really got me now by the kinks.

distorted guitar is so appealing to me. guess that's why j beck is my favorite guitarist.

A Day In The Life:

- The long piano note at the end, definately

A Hard Day's Night:

- The beginning chords mark you a lot

Across The Universe:

- The first Jai Guru Deva at the end

All You Need Is Love:

- The 'She Loves You' singing bit at the end

Blackbird:

- The chirping birds

Day Tripper:

- The first solo that is played in this song

Girl:

- The 'ssssss's

Hello Goodbye:

- The sayings at the end (sound sort of like 'Hey la, hey the mey low a...')

Helter Skelter:

- The 'blisters on mah fingers' part

Hey Jude

- The beginning of the Na na na na's

I Am The Walrus:

- The bit at the end that sounds like a radio

I Feel Fine:

- The beginning chords

I Saw Her Standing There:

- The 'one, two, three, four' at the beginning

Let It Be:

- The first piano notes

Lovely Rita:

- The 'aaaaaaaah' of the beginning

Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da:

- The beginning chords

Piggies:

- The pig's 'oink's

Rain:

- The part that Lennon's sentence is said backwards, near the end

Revolution:

- The scream at the beginning

Strawberry Fields Forever:

- The part where the sound fades and then comes back

Tomorrow Never Knows:

- The first sound effects

Two Of Us:

- The first sentence, with no sound. 'I dig a pygmy, etc.'

With A Little Help From My Friends:

- When they say "Billy Shears" at the beginning

Yellow Submarine:

- When they simulate they are in an actual submarine (Full spead ahead, etc.)

And that may not be even half of everything...

for me
of course the first NA NA's on hey jude

Tomrow never knows when john says " turn off your mind and float downstream"

taxman- 1... 2 ..3 ..4 when they count at the beginging

In my life : when john starts out with perfect words "there are places i remember" and also the little piano solo

It wont be long- the very beginging when john screams "it wont be long ya!"

Dear prudence- how it has that little noise from back in the ussr and goes to that beatifull guitar

2:58 minutes into Hey Jude you can hear John say, "wrong chord... f*cking hell"

And another one of my favorite song moments:

yeh you can hear john say that...its actually pretty pretty obvious, but you dont notice it at first.

apparantley, when john was playing, he struck a wrong chord and 'said f***ing hell', right before paul goes into 'naa naa naa nahnanaanah'.
