Whats the best original song on Please Please Me ?
-
I thought I'd get the ball rolling and vote for Ask Me Why. :)
It might be a strange choice, I know most people will go for others. I just absolutely LOVE Ask Me Why, more than so many other Beatles songs. Always have, always will. :)
I think it's special for me because of the way they've crafted it so perfectly. The harmonies are just fantastic, especially the way they swagger the words with the whole "I love you-woo-woo" thing... so swoon-inducing! :D
And as I adore John, I enjoy it extra because John takes the lead vocal inbetween the harmonised sections. I don't need to go into detail about how awesome his gravelly tones are. :P
It's just a gorgeous love song that plays on so many musical devices and feelings that make me completely fall in love with it, and the band even more than I already am. :-*

I like Misery. It's more interesting than the (cute) "I love you" sort of songs.
-
There's A Place for me. Because it is different, more interesting compared to the other songs.
-
I sort of had a tie between There's A Place and Ask Me Why, but I had to go with There's A Place in the end because I identify with it so very well. Plus I just adore the harmonies.
-
I went for There's A Place i like the vocals on this song , I Saw Her Standing There is another favourite :)
-
I've always been fond of "Please Please Me", although "There's A Place" is excellent too. I really just love this album in general, though, moreso than the two that followed by far.
-
I'm glad There's A Place is getting attention. I've always thought it was really great. I probably would have gone for that if I hadn't picked Ask Me Why. Either that or I Saw Her Standing There. :)

I would choose this song as well! I love John`s voice, it was fantastic and I agree with you in everything.
Actually, this is my favourite album and I enjoy all the songs there, but the ones John sings put a spell on me!!!

I chose There's a Place. I love this catchy tune. ;D
I really enjoy Please Please Me as an album, I just really like the earlier works by them.
-
I adore I Saw Her Standing There!
It's one of the Paul songs that got me into The Beatles. I saw him perform it in the 2008 (09?) Grammys and I loved it ever since! One of my favorites :)

Underrated.

Misery is the best original in my opinion. It's also my top favorite from the album.
-
i agree,i picked misery also....just an out of sight tune....
-
I saw her standing there is the best way you can kick off your first album

I Saw Her Standing There..
It's not quite one of those annoying lovey-dovey songs, and it's definitely not the same sound.
It's something like "I Wanna Hold Your Hand". It's a love song.. but it's not cheesy like Please, Please Me
