What's going on? First two singles straight to #1, and now the biggest selling debut album in history. Anyone heard the album?

I checked their site out after first viewing this thread.

Honestly, 30 seconds into "when she goes on the dance floor" or whatever it is called, I had to stop it. The vocals really annoyed me and the guitar bored me pretty bad too. I'm hoping you guys can contain them, but it seems like just the type of bland pop quasi-indie teenagers over here would dig.

The Music isnt that bad but...

1. The lead singer has a VERY annoying voice.

2. The way the lead singer plays Guitar bugs the hell out of me.

They are the flavour of the week or month or prehaps 6 months in the "Uk"! They have a very savvy internet way of hyping themselves!

I just downloaded album and two singles, and went here to check if anybody mentioned them on forums. I'm listening to them now and I like the music. To be true I think most, not all, of the songs will bore as soon as I listen to them 10-20 times :) But maybe they will not. I can put one song on my server if anybody interested.

I've downloaded:

Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not (2005)
and
Live At Kultkomplex-Cafe, Koeln (Jan 17, 2006)

I can give a link to anyone interested ... I don't like them too much  :-/

Haha, happens to me every week. I hear them about 3 times in the pub, then 3 times again in a club later on.

Sigh. Don't worry, it's just the latest flavour of the month band, like the Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand etc etc.

I think Arctic Monkeys are a little bit more hyped than Franz Ferdinand ;)

I don't know any of their songs, but you gotta love 'em for living the dream. Isn't this type of overnight success such a movie moment?

This is another example of how good marketing can over come bad content. I saw this band play live with Oasis and they blew through their 10 song set in 30 minutes! Vocals were not really good and their songs all sounded the same? The only thing that could be said for this band is they have a "raw" sound that's somewhat unique unfortunatley with bands like Athlete, and Keane coming from the same country the Artic Monkeys better enjoy their 15 minutes of fame while it's there.

I really like the song When the Sun Goes Down.  they sound fine to me, a bit bland, but catchy

I've been listening to them recently and I conclude that they have not much to do ... one bluff, I tell you!  8)
