The Mars Bar is a myth. All who were there deny it and most of the official versions of what happened have been discredited. They were busted for possession of hash  and amphetemines (hardly rock- your -socks- off stuff). Jagger and Richards have always insisted the famous "white powder" was planted. This is now generally accepted as fact.
Sorry - but it's hash and no Mars Bar.

Wasn't it the famous Sergeant Pilcher who planted the evidence? The man was also responsible for John & Yoko's arrest in 1969 - John always maintained the evidence was planted there too!

my four fave Bowie albums are (note: I have them all so I have to narrow the field):

1) Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars
2)Hunky Dory--this is arguably his best, but I still put it at #2
3)Aladdin Sane
4)Pin-ups (I know, I know this album contains ONLY covers, but it's one of the best cover albums I ever heard)

Almost with you Mr. M. I would put Diamond Dogs in instead of Pin Ups. And swap Hunky and Ziggy around.

Something to do with Iggy Pop, and Twiggy wasn't it?

About the Thin White Duke? It was what he was called for a while because of his looks. I guess they still call him that!

As for Bowie being gay, he was. For a while anyway. Then in about '82, he announced he was giving up that life style. Then he got married so I guess he's sticking with the straight life. I'm sure a lot of rock stars experimented sexually. Like Jagger.
and with jagger too.... ;D

The name may come from the singer Iggy Pop or the model Twiggy, both friends of Bowie. Bowie has claimed that it came from a tailor's shop in London called Ziggy's, supposedly because the album was going to be all about clothes.[citation needed] Bowie later told Rolling Stone it was "one of the few Christian names I could find beginning with the letter 'Z'." [citation needed] "Stardust" comes from one of Bowie's labelmates, a country singer named Norman Carl Odom, The Legendary Stardust Cowboy. (Bowie covered a Legendary Stardust Cowboy song, "I Took A Trip On A Gemini Spacecraft", 30 years later on his critically acclaimed Heathen album.)
ok i found this i guess i meant to ask who was his inspirtation for ziggie...

Something rather hilarious that I thought I'd share with you all.

I brought Labyrinth over to the kids I babysit and they were enjoying it. We got to the part where Bowie (as the Goblin King) confronts Sarah and the Goblin that was helping her escape. he throws of his cape and the kids all go, "Ewwww!" I asked them why they said that, and they said "His pants are too tight and you can see his weiner."

LOL! Kids.

It looks as if Bowie might be about to return , it's been reported in the news he's in Berlin recording some new material .
It's six years since the last album "Reality" (2003)
He's been keeping a pretty low profile since his heart problems mid-way through the Reality Tour in 2004.
But last week a very fit looking Bowie showed up at his son Duncan Jones film premier of his first directed film "Moon" which was shown at the Sundance film festivel , Sony have picked the film up for wider distribution.
Must say David looks very well in this photo with Duncan .
Do hope we get a new album i've missed Bowie ? (thumbsup)
