Excluding hits and live collections

1) ALL THINGS MUST PASS (by a wide margin)
2) TUG OF WAR
3) IMAGINE
4) BAND ON THE RUN
5) CLOUD NINE
6) GEORGE HARRISON (1979)
7) RINGO
8) DOUBLE FANTASY / MILK AND HONEY (a slight cheat -- all of John's 1980 tracks, as combined on disc 4 of the LENNON boxset -- too bad we will never hear the songs he would have written...)
9) WALLS AND BRIDGES
10) VENUS AND MARS

HONORABLE MENTION: THIRTY-THREE & 1/3, McCARTNEY, MIND GAMES, LONDON TOWN, BACK TO THE EGG, McCARTNEY II, FLOWERS IN THE DIRT, FLAMING PIE, RUN DEVIL RUN.

Six choices and three Lennon albums. Whaddaya know! Tell me, why do people think so highly of Double Fantasy? If it hadn't been the last album he made before he died I'm pretty sure it would have been forgotten.

Agreed. IMO I think the only reason that DF went to #1 is because of John's death. Sad but true.

As a matter of fact that is exactly what happened over here in The Netherlands. Before December 8th, it didn't do much at all. After that, it went to #1 I think.

My personal favourite is Ram, but its fair to say that All things Must Pass and Imagine are definatly of a similar standard. Imagine might have superior songs but i never feel the need to listen to them as a whole album while Ram is one of only five albums thats on my ipod as an album rather than as individual songs.

Once i hear Too many people i need to listen to the whole of the album, its the only Beatle record(solo or as the group) where i constantly need to listen to all the tracks. Its like the medley from Abbey Road where all these fractions of songs feel like they make up just one very long song.

something between Plastic Ono Band and Band On The Run, but I still vote for POB, although Paul is my favourite Beatle-solo

What?  Ram falls under "Other"?  I am putting on my dueling glove as we speak (but mostly because I am cold).

After looking through the track listing to their solo albums, much to my surprise it was Ram.

At the end of the day I have to give it to Plastic Ono Band. Such a statement, such a record, even just for "God". It's just near perfect.

All Things Must Pass would be very near if only the production wasn't so overwhelming. As far as Paul goes, I've always liked Band on the Run, Flaming Pie, and Chaos and Creation was pretty good too. Haven't heard the newest one, actually. Also, I never really got the deal with Ram. I  never liked the lyrics and felt it was an entire album of Abbey Road-esque McCartney throwaways.

(the exception being, of course, the gorgeous "Back Seat of My Car")
