1980 Newspapers
« on: September 29, 2007, 02:07:44 AM »

If anyone's interested. Here are some New York area newspapers from that week:

From a Long Island paper. This was a special pull out section. Made me weep many times.

Here's the top:

A couple of articles inside:

Recognize the band shell?

I've got the New York Post one, but it's pretty well known so I won't scan it. Maybe just the articles. And I won't scan the one with the pic of him dead. That one always freaked me out. The Post was always such a scummy paper.

I've got tons more, but if it's too depressing I won't post them. I don't want to bum the place out.

no, please - bum us out, bum us out.  Some of us were only 10 in 1980, and couldn't get the opportunity to keep newspapers reporting the incident.

I have a tape of radio annoucements/breaking news of Lennon's murder from that night and the next day. It is kind of sad, but I am eventually going to convert it to cd or maybe mp3s. But, I don't know, I also thought it was depressing.

A bunch more. The article from the Soho paper is very touching.
