Beatle Humor - in print
« on: June 10, 2012, 12:36:49 AM »

Occasionally, I will read posts (not so much on this forum, but others) where a Beatle newbie quotes from a Beatles interview without knowing the Beatles were supreme put-on artists with the press, especially in the early years. What one of them said in jest in 1964 is too often quoted as the truth.

From Playboy, 1964:

Playboy: To bring up another topic that's shocking to some, how do you feel about the homosexual problem?

George: Oh yeah, well, we're all homosexuals, too.

Ringo: Yeah, we're all queer.

Paul: But don't tell anyone.

Believe it or not, one young lad on another forum believed this bit of Beatle humor.

I never knew homosexuality was a problem in the first place.

I suppose if you were a gay man in London in the 1960's, it might be a problem. Actually the real problem was blackmailers, eh?
