LOVE director Dominic Champagne gets Peace Award on Valentine’s Day

Quebec theatre director Dominic Champagne was honoured today as the 2011 Artiste pour la paix.Champagne has had a long and varied career that includes two Cirque du Soleil shows (Varekai, and LOVE, the Beatles show in Las Vegas), and numerous theatrical works, including, most recently Le Boss est mort, by Yvon Deschamps, and HA ha!…, by Rejean Ducharme. The award is given annually to artists who have displayed a social conscience, in some way. Champagne has been active in protests against the development of the natural gas industry through fracking in Quebec.
