Title: Beatle Song Ripoff
Post by: TomMo on June 04, 2012, 08:43:48 PM
Is it just me or did the Rolling Stones ripoff "Eight Days A Week" when they recorded "I'm Free". I mean, how obvious can you get?

To me it sounds more like 'Ticket to Ride' mixed with a little bit 'Eight Days a Week'

The Stones DID follow in the Lads' footsteps on several occasions. First, Paul does "Yesterday" with a string quartet, followed by the Stones with "As Tears Go By" with a string quartet. George plays sitar on "Norwegian Wood" and Brian Jones plays one on "Paint It, Black". First, "Sgt. Pepper's", then "Her Satanic Majesty's Request." The Beatles went all flower power, next we hear Mick singing "Dandelion" and "She's Like A Rainbow".

Yeah that's true. Here's an interview of John for Rolling Stone talking about The Stones copying The Beatles:

Many thanks for posting the spoken interview. I've seen it in print, but John has to be heard to be appreciated; his quotes in print lose something without the inflection. I have to disagree with John on "We Love You" as a ripoff of "All You Need Is Love". I don't hear it, but it WAS recorded shortly after the Beatles recorded AYNIL (with Mick in attendance).

Mick did have one of the best post-Beatles quotes: "We could break up; we just wouldn't be so b****y about it."
