So i decided to make this thread for this EPIC album. I didnt listen to all their albums after they split, but this is best one for me. All songs are great, with for me the weakest one is Mother. It is good, but i simply like the rest of album more. My favs are I Found Out, Remember, God, Isolation, Well Well Well. It's hard to decide! Anyway, epic drumming (Ringo) and bass (Klaus Voormann). Especially on I Found Out. John Lennon (and album) - on Beatles level. Atleast i think so :)

I think this is a hard album to like for a lot of people, it has no frills is very bare, there is no singles on it, I think John said its like Imagine without the sugarcoating ...
Anyway yes, I like it a lot, John was obviously doing primal therapy when he wrote it so its of its time so to speak.
I think Janov encouraged him to get these feelings out, I cant imagine how difficult it must be to have parents that didnt want you, I think it actually would have a massive effect on you forever, I think John needed to exorcise these demons and Yoko and Janov helped him do it..
I see it more as an artistic statement from a tortured soul, absolutely brilliant IMO..

I think the mood you are in greatly influences how you perceive Mother. Many songs it goes the other way, the song can get you in a mood or change your mood. You have to be ready to receive "Mother" if that makes sense. With that said, I recall having a new roommate a bunch of years ago, we were getting ready to hit the bars and I had the Imagine soundtrack playing in the apartment, quite loud as I was moving around room to room etc. When Mother came on, cranked up as it was, he came running out of his room to turn it off/change to another song. I stopped him and we argued about it's merits. I remember his quote of "I have no desire to listen to somebody just yelling". I won out and we finished the song/cd. He moved out shortly afterward.

I love this album because it's so raw and full of emotion. John really knew how to pour his emotions into his music.

I think this is the most important post-Beatles artistic achievement by any ex-member of the band, even though it might not be the most enjoyable solo record. I'll keep further opinions for the long awaited Bobber's microscope.

I love every song on that album besides Isolation. My top three favorites are Look At Me, I Found Out and Well Well Well. I also really like the cover of the album, it's really nice in my opinion and it's actually one of my top favorite album covers ever.
