Title: Best Of
Post by: Bobber on June 28, 2007, 12:57:06 PM
Ringo announced a new 'best of', to be released in August. Now, what will he put on it? Just 'blast from the past' stuff?

Plus Octopus and Don't Pass Me By? Maybe he could even convince Paul to let him include With A Little Help etc.

BFTP is the definitive Ringo compilation album, but his new best of should be interesting.

It's his most successful period I suppose. Shame there's nothing from Sentimental Journey though. The DVD should be fun though.

Sadly, as much as I love Ringo, I probably will pass on this compilation (own his solo catalog), but i'd love to throw him some album sale perks. Guess i'll wait for 'Liverpool 8'.

I want this compilation. I don't have any records of the old Ringo. My father bought the 'Ringo' album when he was a boy, and he loved it.

What do you expect? I expect at least a UK Top 40 entry and a US Billboard 200...
But maybe the album is #1 in the United World Chart.  ;D

I was looking in my Guinness British Hit Singles and Albums book this morning and it's 33 years since Ringo was last on the UK Album charts with Goodnight Vienna # 30 1974.
That as to be some kind of record having a 33 year break between albums ?
Hope it goe's higher next week  :)

I'm really proud of Ringo. This is his best UK Chart Position ever after "Sentimental Journey" and "Ringo", both reached #7, so this is his best position since 1973!

Let's wait for the US position. I hope an entry on the Top 100.  ;)

I had forgotten the first few seconds from the Back Off Boogaloo promo feature in Ringo's film Born To Boogie , the bit where Ringo and Bolan are doing " Some People Like To Rock " link  infront of the red cadilac. :)
Got my copy today i playing it now it's great, im also pleased Ringo credits Bolan with the title of Back Off Boogaloo .

" Marc Bolan was a friend. He came over for dinner one night and used to talk like that - he'd say things like Back Off Boogaloo. I went to bed and that song just came into my head in the twilight hour "

Nice one Ringo you not forgetting Marc like that , always thought it was a very Bolan sounding song , it's a real favourite :)

Meanwhile, the album is not released in Argentina yet (my country...). (In moments like these I really want to be in your location guys...) And the album doesn't appeared in the entire United World Chart Top 40. It was released in the United States right?

I got my copy Tuesday and, being the huge Ringo fan that I am (just ask Mr Kite!), I played it straight away! Great memories - I haven't played or heard Beaucoups of Blues for decades (literally!)! I played that track over and over again when I was a kid - no wonder I can't stand C&W now!!

The only low-point for me is the inclusion of Act Naturally and the front cover (it looks a bit cheap!). GREAT album though! Well done Richie, hope it's a big hit for you :-)

Yay!! I got it too!!  ;D  ;D
The problem was that I couldn't get it where I live (probably hasn't been released yet, and I know there's the internet as Bobber correctly pointed out, but I don't trust internet shopping), and Dad was over in the UK so I sort of mentioned the fact that if he saw a Ringo album somewhere by any chance it would make a nice "souvenir"... so he got me Photograph!  ;D Very happy indeed ^___^

I really like the songs on it... some of them I haven't heard before (and now I really want to get Vertical Man!) And I love the comentaries... great album - Go Ringo!  :)

You're right! But I prefer to wait a little because buy through internet is quite expensive. At least for me.   ::)
And also I bought 4 CDs in the last two weeks. I got to stop!  :P

Yeah! Two days ago I bought Music Of My Mind by Stevie Wonder. What you think about that album? Do you like it? I've listening to it just 2 or 3 times and it seems really good, but nothing compares to Innervisions.

That's the only Stevie Wonder album i still need that has a good rating in
most album polls! :) I like Innervisions in places but not a huge fan of it :-/
I love Fullfilligness, songs in Key of life, & Talking Book (which is my fav).
I may just put Stevie Wonder & Marvin Gaye as the best singers ever!! :)

God bless you Andy! You're great. I love Marvin & Stevie and those are fantastic albums, simlpy some of the best music ever recorded.  ;)

About Ringo, I've readed this in the discussion of ukmix.org
"Also in the US this is the album's debut week, at No. 130, with approximate sales of 5.000 copies."

http://www.ukmix.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=47614

Is it true? It's his first charting in the US since Ringo Rama.

It is 30 years ago today (September 16th), that the legend that was Marc Bolan died in a mini driven by his girlfriend & mother of his child Gloria Jones (most famous for the original version of "Tainted Love").

So today is a good day to relive TRextacy of the early 1970s.
