Gene Simmons is a rock legend of the highest degree as a member of the legendary rock group Kiss who has been rocking for over 30 years(Kiss should have stopped after their farewell tour personally speaking)who gave rock & roll a good kick in the ass during the 70's with their music, their shows, their image & their attitude while it's sad that critics still don't get it to this day since Kiss is more than just about their makeup & Gene's famous tongue. Gene Simmons knows how make money as well as making music & being a great performer along with being politically incorrect with his opinions which upset his opponents who take themselves way too seriously for their own good & keeping his name in the spotlight after all these years just like another rock legend named Sir Paul McCartney which is why he's a capitalist genius regardless if you disagree with him.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! GENIUS?!?!?! :D

c'mon Wayne, you are kidding right?

Of course he is. :D

Oh he's always doing that. By now it should be obvious he's not serious, after all he makes the most ridiculous comparisons. Eddie Van Halen to Jimmy Page, David Lee Roth to Robert Plant, Ronald Reagan to Franklin Roosevelt, and now Gene Simmons to Paul McCartney. How could anyone take that seriously?
-
Well....how many memorable songs have Simmons or McCartney put out since 1980.....and they both found ways to make a great deal of money off their bands.....perhaps they are similar?
-
The difference is Paul McCartney wrote "Hey Jude". Gene Simmons wrote "Lick it Up." I think they're different.

Actually, Paul wrote some memorable songs after 1980 (for me especially).
Coming Up
Tug Of War
Take It Away
Here Today
Ebony And Ivory
Say Say Say
Press
Spies Like Us
My Brave Face
Figure Of Eight
Hope Of Deliverance
The World Tonight
Vanilla Sky
Freedom
Those are the ones that did the best on the charts and hardly anything close to my favorites, but nontheless.
-
Gene Simmons was bad in the 70's and even worse in the 80's...he went from Christine 16 to Psycho Circus...all bad music.
-
I like the live version of Coming Up....I don't really ever find myself humming any of his other hits since then much....
-
I think Kiss acted way more hardcore than they actually were. I was meant for loving you baby...... not really intense. Simmons is quite the capitalist, considering he is still making money off an eventful day at the carnival at which he stopped at a facepainting booth.
-
I agree, KISS was just a carnival show. In fact, they aren't in the Rock Hall of Fame, which is just, because they really only had three or four memorable tunes.
-
I hated Kiss in the 70's. They were bubblegum showbiz as far as I was concerned.
I've since come to like two of their songs. That's about it.
They were always about pyrotechnics, tongues, shock value, theatre. Not music.
-
Is there any product that KISS doesn't have their faces on? They have lunchboxes, t shirts, mugs, door mats.........home pregnancy tests etc. What a bunch of sell outs. "Shout it Out Loud" is a fine tune though. :)
-
Gene Simmon's is just like Paul McCartney?? So does that make Paul Stanley the John Lennon of Kiss? Lennon/McCartney-Stanley/Simmons. Uh, I don't think so! I remember thinking Kiss was a joke in the sixth grade! They haven't improved in my evaluation of them since then. Rock and roll all night and party every day! Real profound.
-
paul is more savvy than gene.it was paul who decided they should merchandise themselves.....paul by the way is really stanley eisen
-
i don't think we can really compare kiss with the beatles or simmons with paul mccartney. the beatles were pioneers in the music industry. they set the standard for many bands and still do to this day. they were the first to do a live world wide broadcast, the first to make music videos and the first to really market themselves.
i'm sure their is many other things i've missed but is early and the coffee is just kicking in... ;D ;D
-
Wasn't Elvis Presley the first to make music video's?

If you count Betty Boop cartoons I'd have to say Cab Calloway.
And there were even other musical films before that: jazz, 'race' and general pop.

I suppose you could class any of his films as music videos!
The Beatles really did make promotional films to market their songs. That's how they hooked up with Michael Lindsey-Hogg (Let It Be director), he directed their Paperback Writer/Rain promos.

I have to admit, tho. KISS was my Beatles when I was growing up as a child in the 70's. Don't get me wrong, KISS has nothing on the Beatles as far as music. But, they were 4 individual stars in the same band (much like the beatles) and bigger than anyone for a small period in the mid-late 70's. As a child, I pictured them as my Beatles for that reason. With that said, I woke up in high-school and realized the Beatles are STILL bigger than anyone......and they broke up a long while ago. pretty amazing.

Ace Frehely is a underrated guitarist
-
I dont like KISS alot, but I love "Strutter"...Rock and roll all nite is annoying though
-
Kiss are f***ing terrible.

I saw Gene Simmons as a guest judge on this season's American Idol. I thought that was funny.
-
yeah, i saw american idol as well. kinda embarrasing:(.
he got into that argument with randy and paula over some guy, didnt they?
i never got this season's guest judges. i mean, can mark mcgrath or ll cool j really sing?

I remember them arguing over a few people. I just found it odd that HE was on there critiquing other people's performances when he's not too great himself.
-
I think Gene Simmons shoud do us all a favour, and crawl into one of his Kiss caskets, never to step out.
-
Oh he's always doing that.
-
. Paul McCartney & Gene Simmons are two equally great rock legends from two equally great legendary rock groups the Beatles & Kiss as well as being equally great performers & knowing how to make money.
-
shakespeare, einstein, mozart . . . gene simmons
sure, it works for me.
-
Gene Simmons is the master Marketer, KISS has over 2500 patents, and they've been on their 'Farewell Tour' for what 4 years? I'll grant you that there are an infinite number of Beatle related products/items out there, but they have all been in good taste. There aren't any Beatle condoms or caskets for sale and they never did any shilling for people to go out and buy the dolls, wigs or whatever. They took the high road. Gene Simmons is a whore and makes no bones about it.
-
Yeah, he is a total idiot.
-

Paul McCartney is a billionaire. Gene Simmons isn't. So who's the capitalist genius?

Paul McCartney wrote some of the greatest songs including the most covered song of all time. He made his fortune by being talented (and some good investments). Gene loves to talk about money, money, money, he's even trying to get a piece of the action on Ebay for KISS stuff bought and sold. You never hear Macca talking about his net worth and he makes over $5,000/hour just for breathing.

Wish I made $5000/hour.... :)

I might be wrong but I read somewhere that his drumming on Anthology made Pete Best a millionaire. Just gives a hint of the amounts the others must be pulling in.

i dunno how much paul is making but i sure as well wish i were him, or even bill gates. bill gates i heard could spend 2500 dollars every minute for the next 80something years and still be richer than Oprah and other Hollywood actors and actresses combined.
-
Some people call Pete Best the most unfortunate guy in music history, but he's actually quite lucky. He's just one of many thousands of guys that played in a regionally succesful band in his youth, but he got lucky because his old band became really famous afterwards and made him a milionair.

Tell me about it. I live in Wisconsin. Sir Paul owns the rights to the state song "On Wisconsin" which means he gets royalties every time the marching band plays it at a football game. I was hoping when he played here the last few times he'd at least play a few bars of it since he owns it. He owns rights to so much stuff that he probably doesn't even remember that its part of his portfolio, so to speak.
