Running, Screaming, Flapping!!! All night long! Oh! The humanity! Let me sleep tonight!

Are they in the house, Dave? How is your poor wife handling this? I'd be gone if it happened here!

Oh, she's having a rough time of it!!! They were flapping in the bedroom right over our heads! I learned a great trick by accident years ago. I opened the window and they flew out. Then The next time I opened the window and took the screen out and it flew harmlessly into the screen and I put it down onto the bed and trapped him there till I got my gloves and threw him out the window!

I checked the attic ( very big and creepy) and it looked like the start of a colony so the next day I got a couple of boxes of mothballs and stapled the bags onto the joists where they were gathering. I also used Deer Off and I haven't seen one since!

Don't leave the window open at night, Dave...

Garlic and wolfsbane are more effective than mothballs and Deer-Off.  But this works the best...

I'm glad that's over! You were brave to go up into the attic! Our house came with bats in the attic and I'll never forget when my husband and father in law went up there to investigate. It was pretty quiet then all of a sudden we could hear all this running around and hollering. LOL Once they left for the winter we were able to seal things off and they haven't been a problem. (Knock on wood!) In fact, the bat population has really decreased around here and I wonder if the aerial mosquito spraying has anything to do with it.

Poor misunderstood bats.  Most people think they're rodents, but they're mammals...and they're our friends.  The most common bat here the US is the Little Brown Bat which can eat about 1,000 mosquitoes in an hour.

Right. I hated when they sprayed that stuff. You never knew when it was coming. I remember hearing the plane one evening when I had the kids out for a walk. I ran for home, pushing that double stroller as fast as I could. They were really little but my son remembers having scary dreams about airplanes.

Oh, and it was aerial spraying, not ariel. That's The Little Mermaid.  ha2ha

Personally I like them. They're very gentle and harmless unless your a bug! I go up and they fly all around me but they need to live outside in the bat houses I put up!

I understand their importance and I don't like acting like a ninny around them but man; I can't help myself!

Ways I see it, if a mammal wants to put on rodent airs then it's only got itself to blame.

I can't either! I am terrified of bats, even though I know they are important to the ecosystem.
