Two of Paul's favorite Ringo songs... what are two of yours?
« on: January 14, 2015, 08:35:43 PM »

Paul mentioned on Jimmy Fallon's show a few weeks ago that two of his favorite Ringo solo tunes are "It Don't Come Easy" and "Back Off Boogaloo."

What are two of yours? (post-Beatles)

My picks:

1. Photograph
2. I Don't Believe You

Welcome aboard!

I'm currently catching up on Ringo's catalogue: listening to Beaucoups of Blues in between the Santa CD Swap cd's.

I like Early 1970 for its lyrics and It Don't Come Easy.

In keeping with my very scant knowledge of Ringo's solo output, I've never really got past It Don't Come Easy and Photograph when putting Beatle solo stuff on playlists.

Trust me Moog, you have picked two of his very best there.

But I don't feel like playing.

It's too much of an insult to Ringo to limit it to two songs being selected. TWO?!?!? As if there's only a handful or so worth considering? NO!!!!!!

I could never boil John, Paul or George's output right down to a fancied two and I can't and won't try doing it for Ringo either!

Make it a top ten and I'd happily join in!

OK, well... if you had a top ten for Ringo, what would be two of the songs on your list?

This is true.  Maybe two from each album would be better.

Welcome to the forum onebefore910! I have a hard time with favorites lists but I can handle two! For Ringo my two favorites are "It Don't Come Easy" and "Photograph".

If Apple stick 'Sentimental Journey', 'Beaucoups of Blues', 'It Don't Come Easy'/'Early 1970', and the obscure 'Steel' that was on a promo 45 in 1971 (anyone know anything more about this? - it's apparently worth a small fortune) on one CD for a tenner, with a 16-page booklet by Mark Lewisohn detailing Ringo's immediate post-Beatles' split career, see you in the queue at HMV one Monday morning.

Until then, there are more pressing pressings to seek out.

While I'm at it, it would be nice if Apple 'doubled up' the late 60s Lennon LPs, with the three As and Bs, for a price more consumer friendly price than is currently the case.

I'll give you my ten and you can pick any two you like...

But first 909 (that's onebefore910, right?) please accept my apology. My earlier post comes over as very grumpy and that's really not my style. You're a new poster and there's nothing worse than somebody getting awkward when you're making a friendly effort to join in. Sorry. Judging by your avatar you're a Ringo fan, and any Starr supporter is a pal of mine! I do get a bit defensive towards him you see.

Anyway...

In no particular order, here's ten, all great in my opinion, I'd be happy with any any two from....

Weight Of The World
Snookeroo
Wrack My Brain
Liverpool 8
Don't Go Where The Road Don't Go
Fading In And Fading Out
Photograph
Never Without You
It Don't Come Easy
I Don't Believe You

I quite like Liverpool 8. It's a little corny. But that's Ringo all over. In a nice way. It's a catchy sonng which seems to beg to become a singalong.

Reading the Lewisohn book though it doesn't sound like Liverpool 8 is the type of place you'd be nostalgic for.

No offense taken! I admire your defensiveness. I think Paul would have given Fallon more than two songs, but of course Jimmy cut him off mid-sentence, like he does with everyone.

I like your list... although I always thought "Weight Of The World" was overrated. I think Time Takes Time would have done better if "I Don't Believe You" was the lead single, but it seems I'm in the minority about "Weight", since it made Ringo's greatest hits.

Since you mentioned it, I picked the avatar for a different reason, but yes I am a Ringo fan-- by way of being a Beatles fan. I became a fan while they were still together, which makes me REALLY old! haha  Anybody else here as ancient as me?

How are people not listening to this stuff?  Even around here it seems.

I have to admit I've never really listened to much of Ringo's solo stuff. These recommendations will help rectify that.

Currently listening to Beaucoups Of Blues for the Microscope. I don't know if you agree, but it takes some patience to listen this. It's pretty horrible.

Anyone fancy to pick up this thing? I'm just too busy at the moment.
