What would Brian Epstein think had he lived?
« on: November 26, 2005, 11:18:04 PM »

If Brian Epstein were alive today I think he would have said some good things & & not so good things about him concerning Two Virgins, the bed in for peace &  raising Sean the last 5 years of his life.  BE probably would give George credit for a few of his solo albums & the Concert For Bangladesh as well as trying to hide from the spotlight slightly after the Beatles before his death.  He would probably think Ringo did alright after the Beatles with his hit singles in the early 70's & a few good albums as well as getting back onstage again with his All Starr Band.  Epstein would more than likely think Paul has been a great artist keeping his name in the spotlight for over 40 years making some great music & not so great music after the Beatles as well as still touring but pretending to be JL as an activist from his perspective.

If Epstein was alive the Beatles probably wouldn't have broken up when they did.

Might well be true. And, when/if they had broken up, Epstein might well have been a force to reunite them later on.

I don't think that's very funny. You shouldn't use derogatory terms like that.

I do think they would have broken up. Although he was the glue at first, it was beginning to fade away at the point. After they stop touring, it was this big emtiness in their life, "what do we do now?". It was differnet in those days.

There were other alternatives: working two or three mounths a year in one album (as George suggested). I do think Brian'd have helped to the group to keep on working together -somehow.

I always thought Brians motives for managing The Beatles were anything but moneyt driven. (in fact, if he had been money driven he probably would have been a manager.)
But my Beatles history is old and maybe I have some romantic view of it all. I thought Brian had quite personal reasons for managing them.(ie he wasn't happy being a store manager etc)
