Upcoming Macca Interview (UK)
« on: August 25, 2005, 08:20:49 AM »

Radio 4 (yes, the land of the Archers) 7.15 (i presume pm) on Bank Holiday Monday. he's talking about songwriting. I heard an excert and it sounded quite light hearted and fun. (he was going on about he was afraid one day he would be caught out.)
So, after a day of sitting in the sun watching the cricket, listen to Macca, have a quick munch and a sneakie one before Match of The Day.
It's just a perfect day.....

This is the promo:
Paul McCartney brings a guitar to the studio to show how he writes songs. In conversation with John Wilson, he reveals that his 1968 song Blackbird has its roots in a fragment of Bach, and also demonstrates how finding exactly the right chord can be a matter of trial and error

The interview turned out to be more of a promo for the new album than any great insight. I didn't pick any revelations (my Beatle reading is way behind you guys, but did we know Blackbird is "inspired" by a piece of Bach Paul and George used to play to friends to impress?). He also said that he and John didn't record songs when they started writing - if they couldn't remember it the next day then it couldn't be any good.
The bits of the album they played sounded good. There was a nice moment when he tried to play a new song on the piano but couldn't remember the chords. He sounded very happy and upbeat.
